- Dr Loosen Dr L Riesling 2011 Product #26329 (In Stock)
-
-
Another fine vintage for one of Germany's best value - and most consistent - entry-level Rieslings. As usual, rich and creamy with bright acidity underneath and plenty of apricot and fresh peach aromas and flavors. Rich but not heavy and very easy to drink.
- Steininger Riesling Kamptal 2010 Product #25860 (In Stock)
-
-
Here we mostly know Steininger for its classic Gruner Veltliners, but they also make a fabulous dry Riesling. Its aromas showcase the tropical side of this versatile grape: mango, starfruit, papaya and citrus, with a hint of nutmeg spiciness and white flowers. Dry and a bit richer than most German Rieslings, but with the same crackling acidity, this would be fabulous with a spicy tuna roll or Vietnamese food.
- Dom Weinbach Riesling Reserve Personnelle 2011 Product #26420 (In Stock)
-
-
Always one of the best dry Riesling values to come out of Alsace, the 2011 edition offers all the complexity and refreshment of the Wine Spectator 90 point 2010 release in a more open, ready to love, package. The cool 2011 growing season in Alsace was saved by a warm Indian summer that allowed growers to wait to harvest when their fruit was perfectly ripe. In this – the estate’s “entry level” Riesling – you’ll find that lovely ripeness from first sniff where aromas of peach, yellow pear, lime zest, grapefruit pith, and salty wet stones jump from the glass.
In the mouth, it’s a touch more open than the 2010 was at this point, with layered and lovely flavors of orchard and citrus fruits accented by notes of almond and warm stones. So fresh in the mouth, it reminded me of biting into a sweet and juicy wine grape, with zesty acidity and a smoky, stony, edge keeping things fresh on the long, mouthwatering, finish. - Efeste Riesling Evergreen Vineyard 2011 Product #26312 (In Stock)
-
-
Another great vintage for what is fast gaining recognition as one of America's best dry Rieslings. This is crisp and minerally with fine depth and a firm, vibrant, finish.
"Light and silky, with a jolt of acidity to balance the delicate sweetness, allowing the peach, pear and floral flavors come through unhindered. Drink now through 2015."Wine Spectator 90 points
- Zilliken Riesling Qba Butterfly 2011 Product #26072 (In Stock)
-
-
We recently revisited this estate and were impressed by the quality of all their wines, but with the medium-dry Butterfly most of all. It opens with aromas of peaches, Meyer lemon, and white flowers, and on the palate strikes just the right balance of sweetness and zingy acidity. A winner with spicy sausages and charcuterie!
- Gunderloch Jean Baptiste Riesling Kabinett 2010 Product #26411 (In Stock)
-
-
Founded in the late 1800s, Gunderloch remains one of the top estates in Germany's Rheinhessen region. The Jean Baptiste cuvee is a great introduction to this top Riesling house.
"This shows a fine minerally essence to its juicy ripe grapefruit, ginger and spiced apple flavors that are long and rich. The elegant finish features tropical and savory notes. Drink now through 2022."Wine Spectator 90 points
- Klemens Weber Riesling Sekt Trocken 2009 Product #26414 (In Stock)
-
-
This is a seriously fun bottle of sparkling wine. A single-vintage, dry sparkler made from 100% Riesling from Pfalz producer Klemens Weber, this party in a glass opens with aromas of golden apple and chammomile. On the palate, it explodes with flavor: green apple, Honey Crisp, candied pineapple, on and on. This would be great as an aperitif, but also with all kinds of pork-based fall dishes.
- Monchhof Riesling Spatlese Mosel Slate 2011 Product #26413 (In Stock)
-
-
Another terrific vintage for this old-school Mosel producer, Robert Eymael. As you'd expect from a wine called "Slate", this delivers loads of stone and mineral flavors over ripe pear and Fuji apple fruit. Definitely spatelese weight and richness here, but with vibrant, almost crunch, acidity and minerality on the long, savory, finish.
- JJ Prum Riesling Kabinett 2011 Product #26711 (In Stock)
-
-
Another fine release from the master of the Mosel. Decant or leave open for an hour to let the youthful sulfur blow off.
"This features ripe lime and slate notes on an elegant frame, with lively hints of white chocolate and vanilla. The rich finish of peaches and cream is accented by light, smoky notes. Drink now through 2020."Wine Spectator 90 points
- Ch Montelena Potter Valley Riesling 2009 Product #27184 (In Stock)
-
-
The 2011 Riesling arrived at the winery fuzzy with noble rot, and you'll find the classic aromas of honey and chamamile here in spades. Round and fleshy on the palate with lime, apricot, and golden apple fruit and more herbed honey notes, a refreshing minerality builds on the long, dry, finish. Distinctive and very limited.
- Kesselstatt Riesling Kabinett Piesporter Goldtropfchen 2010 Product #26219 (In Stock)
-
-
Definitely a fuller, richer Kabinett, but delicious nonetheless! This fantastic Riesling from a family-owned estate that dates back to the 14th century, and one of the Mosel's most famous sites, opens with aromas of marzipan, white flowers, lemon curd, and fresh peaches. On the palate it has that lovely, crackling acidity you'd expect in a Kabinett, especially from the 2010 vintage, but the finish shows a bit more richness than other producers, and a delicious note of gooey marshmallow. A wonderful foil for pungent cheese or spicy food, or just as an afternoon sipper. Yum!
- Kesselstatt Riesling Kabinett Scharzhofberger 2011 Product #27125 (In Stock)
-
-
Another gorgeous Riesling from a classified Mosel-Saar-Ruwer site, this Kabinett from Reichsfraf von Kesselstatt has all the vibrancy and drive you could want in an off-dry Riesling. Classic aromas of spring flowers and stone fruits on the nose, and refreshing, almost prickly acidity. Mouthwatering and delicious.
"A powerful white, featuring plenty of minerality and concentrated savory notes to the green apple, nectarine and spice flavors. Slate and smoke fill the rich, zesty finish. Drink now through 2026. 1,000 cases made."Wine Spectator 92 points
- Dom Weinbach Riesling Grand Cru Schlossberg 2010 Product #25204 (In Stock)
-
-
My tasting note from August, 2011, at the Domaine reads, "We've got to have this!" Every bit as refreshing as the Riesling Reserve, this layers on Grand Cru intensity and depth and an endless finish. You'll find Gala apple, white peach, and lots of zesty lime flavor here under intense aromas of fresh flowers, wet stones, and lime zest. This long, complex, mouthwatering, white comes from the upper slopes of the first vineyard in Alsace to achieve “Grand Cru” status.
"Racy and medium-bodied, this offers flavors of yellow apple, candied lemon zest, beeswax, blanched almond and lots of ground spice. Lovely precision to the overall balance. Mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2020."Wine Spectator 92 points
- Monchhof Riesling Auslese Erdener Pralat 2011 Product #26719 (In Stock)
-
-
Always one of our favorite Riesling producers, the 2011 Erdener Pralat Auslese is gorgeous as usual. A bit softer than the 2010, the 2011 is all about dried pineapple, tropical fruit, and white flowers. Just enough acidity to keep things in balance. Delicious on its own or with pungent cheeses.
- Kesselstatt Riesling Trocken Nies' Chen Gg Erste Lage 2010 Product #27124 (In Stock)
-
-
From one of the best sites in the Ruwer comes this bone dry, powerful Riesling. It's part of a new wave of German wines made in a dry style and meant to showcase the unique aspects of different vineyard sites, in this case the blue slate the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer is famous for. Beautiful aromas of pineapple and ripe stone fruits on the nose, and at once concetrated and energetic on the palate. Stunning.
- Dom Weinbach Riesling Grand Cru Schloss Ste Cath 2010 Mag Product #26625 (In Stock)
-
-
One of Alsace's best dry Rieslings, hand bottled in Magnum for us. Very limited.
"Very perfumed nose of flowers (iris, peony), tangerine, pineapple and crystallized ginger; showing a bit more lift today than the Schlossberg, even if this wine is from lower on the hillside. Then rich and suave on the palate, with an opulent mouthfeel to the flavors of stone fruits, nutmeg and mace. Finishes long and smooth, with a ripe apricot flavor complicated by minerals and spices. An excellent showing, and built for aging. According to Cathy Faller, this needs about three more years of bottle age to enter its optimal drinking phase."International Wine Cellar 92 points
"Well-knit and fresh, there's a quiet intensity to this elegant white, and a floral overtone to the notes of Jonagold apple, white peach, lemon zest, beeswax and toasted almond. Lingering mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2025."Wine Spectator 93 points
