- Telmo Rodriguez Rueda Basa Blanco 2013 Product #28430 (In Stock)
Here's a sizzling summer Spanish white from 92% Verdejo and 8% Viura from old head-trained vines - called "Basa" in Spanish. Big aromas of tangerine, apricot and lemon with just a hint of summery mint. The flavors are just as big - juicy pineapple, stone fruits, and tangy lemon making you mouth water as it turns up in a smile. The finish goes on and on with citrust and stone fruit flavors dancing together. Great sipper or match for fish.
"The 2013 Basa is a white blend of Verdejo with 8% Viura fermented in inox and bottled unoaked. The nose is clean with notes of green apple and hints of fennel, balanced and subtle. The palate is medium-bodied with good freshness, refreshing easy to drink. A whopping 500,000 bottles were produced in 2013. Very good value and great quality considering the volume. Drink now."Wine Advocate 90 points
- Bodegas Naia Verdejo Rueda 2013 Product #28602 (In Stock)
Another great vintage for this benchmark Rueda Verdejo from old vines (30-90 years) with about 10% of the wine aged in French oak. Intense aromas of lemon, lime, smoky mineral and fresh herb lead to a mouthful of round orchard fruit - peach, apricot, yellow apple - with accents of fresh flowers and a touch of pear. Long on the palate and juicy finish where peach and pear skin notes linger nicely over citrusy acids.
"Light yellow-gold. Lemon zest, fresh fig, smoky minerals and white flowers on the highly perfumed nose. Brisk, tactile and focused, boasting excellent energy to its flavors of fresh citrus fruits, pear, pineapple and sweet butter. Finishes taut, fresh and long, with resonating mineral and floral notes." Vinous 91 points
"The 2013 Naia is a serious Verdejo, clean and pure, with floral and white fruit aromas intermixed with some balsamic notes. The palate is very pleasant, with good volume and acidity, which is somehow counterbalanced by residual sugar. Very good value."Wine Advocate 90 points
