Seghesio Zinfandel Sonoma County 2013 Product #30229 (In Stock)
Seghesio Zinfandel Sonoma County 2013 Seghesio Zinfandel Sonoma County 2013

Out of Stock Now, Expected Back In Tuesday December 22.  Taking Orders Now.

The Seghesio name has been synonomous with Zinfandel ever since Edoardo Seghesio planted his first vines in Sonoma's Alexander Valley in 1895.  Edoardo's great-great-great (?) grandson, Ted Seghesio, still makes the wines here, maintaining the family's 120-year tradition of care and quality – and value.

This wine, their Sonoma County Zinfandel has been pulling down "Best Buy" awards from Wine Spectator since the late 1980s and has made the Top 100 list 4 or 5 times since then.  The 2013 is another winner.  It’s 95%+ Zinfandel with just a touch of Petit Sirah for color and mid-palate fruit.  You’ll find all of Zinfandel’s briary berry fruit on display here from the big aromas of cherry and raspberry to the red/black fruit mélange on the palate and long finish.  The dash of herb, sweet spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander), and dusting of black pepper make this a sweet-and-savory party in your mouth.

"A lively, zesty red that offers bright cherry and tarragon aromas and sleekly layered flavors of briary raspberry, nutmeg and fresh-cracked black pepper. Drink now through 2021."Wine Spectator 92 points

Easton Zinfandel Amador County 2012 Product #30601 (In Stock)
Easton Zinfandel Amador County 2012 Easton Zinfandel Amador County 2012

A fine, big, chewy Zinfandel from the dry hills of Amador County.  Big brambly fruit, a touch of spice, and plenty of mouthfilling richness.  Fine value in an old school Zin.

"This beautifully balanced wine is poised, a bit reserved, but has a distinctive personality. Aromas of red cherry, cedar and cinnamon precede tangy raspberry flavors that ride on a firm but light texture and linger on through the finish."Wine Enthusiast 91 points

Prisoner 2014 Product #30144 (In Stock)
Prisoner 2014 Prisoner 2014

As always, the Prisoner is not for the faint hearted, although it’s become considerably better mannered since Jen Beloz took over winemaking.  It’s a big - right around 15% alcohol - California red that escapes from the glass with an explosion of super-ripe red and black fruit plenty of spicy oak. It’s always an exotic flavor profile from an exotic blend:  About 40% Zinfandel with around 20% each of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Syrah and a splash of Charbono for chewy spice.

Winemaker Jen Beloz’s notes are sure to make your mouth water!  “Bold aromas of black cherry and plum are heightened by hints of oak and Madagascar vanilla. A soft and velvety palate of anise, dark cocoa powder and roasted sage lead into a dense finish with luscious tannins.” Capture your share of Prisoner before it escapes!

Martinelli Zinfandel Vellutini Ranch Russian River 2011 Product #30651 (In Stock)
Martinelli Zinfandel Vellutini Ranch Russian River 2011 Martinelli Zinfandel Vellutini Ranch Russian River 2011

The rare 2011 Zin that needed a little time to unwind.  Big, bold, and very rich.

"A massive, brooding wine, the 2011 Zinfandel Vellutini Ranch is also one of the darker wines in this range. Dark red/black stone fruit, tobacco, new leather, menthol and spices burst from the glass as this resonant, layered Zinfandel blossoms with air. The style is built on power and intensity."  Vinous (Galloni) 92 points

"With 16.1% alcohol, the 2011 Zinfandel Vellutini Ranch was obviously picked ripe. There are 350 cases of this cuvee, which was made from the same clonal material from the Jackass and Jackass Hill vineyards. Aromas of ripe figs, black currants, incense, camphor and underbrush emerge from this full-bodied Zin."Wine Spectator 91 points
