- Healdsburg Ranches North Coast Zinfandel 2009 Product #26631 (In Stock)
-
-
Here's a good, fruit-filled, Zinfandel that you'll enjoy with burgers, BBQ, or nibbles at a party. All Zin from vineyards around Sonoma County's Healdsburg, it serves up generous flavors of berries, cherries and spice in a middle-weight wine that finishes dry and clean. Plenty of flavor but not heavy and not at all "hot". Easy drinking fun!
- Rubus Zinfandel Lodi Old Vine 2010 Product #26866 (In Stock)
-
-
As IWC said of the 2009, "This style of zin is getting harder to find." Old school, Lodi, Zin with a bold perfume of spicy red berries, flowers, and black pepper. Then a big, juicy, mouthful of super-ripe, even jammy, Zinfandel fruit lifted and kept fresh by a hint of orange peel acidity and more cracked pepper. Finishes juicy and fruity, with no alcoholic heat. Great burger or - even better - BBQ rib wine!
- David Noyes Zinfandel Sonoma County 2009 Product #25928 (In Stock)
-
-
Once again, David Noyes has crafted a terrific wine that delivers loads of Dry Creek Valley character without going overboard on anything. Ripe Dry Creek Zin plus a touch of Petite Sirah and old vine Carignane delivers complex aromas of ripe cherries, rose petal, sage and cinnamon. The flavors are ripe, dark, and spicy and more than rich enough to enjoy now, but there's also the stuffing and tanninc structure to support a few years of cellaring. The lingering red currant and blackberry jam flavors are a delight!
- Seghesio Zinfandel Sonoma 2011 Product #26858 (In Stock)
-
-
Seghesio has been turning out bold Sonoma Zinfandel for close to 100 years, and it's not surprising that they've established themselves as one of the true benchmark producers for this classic American varietal. The "entry level" Sonoma Zin is always big, bold, and spicy without becoming jammy or hot. A four-time member of Wine Spectator's Top 100 list, most recently coming in at #10 in 2007!
"An excellent wine from a challenging vintage, with black cherry and spice aromas opening to rich wild berry, mineral and toasty sage flavors that wrap around a concentrated core of acidity and tannins."Wine Spectator 92 points
- Orin Swift Saldo Zinfandel 2010 Product #27044 (In Stock)
-
-
The 2010 Saldo is once again mainly Zinfndel (82%) plus Petite Sirah (10%) and dashes of Syrah and Grenache from top vineyards all across California. Words like “big”, “intense”, “jammy” and – of course – “full throttled” all apply perfectly here in this classic example of California “power Zin.”
Give the 2010 Saldo a swirl and you’ll be greeted by big aromas of dark cherry, crushed blackberry, seared meat, cocoa powder plus dashes of baking spice and crushed black olives. Full and rich from the first sip and explosively flavored with more red and black fruit, a touch of dried plum, cracked black pepper, bitter chocolate and more spice. Mouthfilling and intense in the middle, the fruit flavors keep pumping on the zippy finish where just enough acidity and dusty tannin emerge to keep everything together. Chocolate, berry, and vanilla notes linger nicely.
Perhaps this will age well, although I can’t imagine why you’d want to put off enjoying it now. Fire up the grill and sear up a spice-rubbed ribeye steak or go low-and-slow with well-smoked and sauced ribs. But, enjoy the great prices while you can! - Tin Barn Zinfandel Russian River Gilsson Vyd 2010 Product #26549 (In Stock)
-
-
This bold, rich, single-vineyard Zinfandel starts off with big Holiday aromas - black plum pudding, clove studded orange, and blackberry pie. In the mouth it's ripe and full-bodied but not nearly as super-sized as the WS review suggests (but every bit as tasty! Fine value, but not much to go around!
"A Zin for those who love them big, rich and very ripe. Floral black currant and spice aromas open to succulent and jammy black cherry and toasty caramel flavors. Drink now through 2018. 421 cases made."Wine Spectator 91 points
- Green & Red Zinfandel Chiles Mill 2010 Product #26974 (In Stock)
-
-
Perhaps our favorite Zinfandel producer, the almost off-the-grid guys at Green & Red up on the high eastern slopes of Napa. Red soils (clay and iron) with sparkling green flecks (malachite) give the winery it's name. As always, this single-vineyard Zin is plenty ripe, but with uncommon balance, grace and class. Dark cherry and raspberry fruit get accents of fresh bay leaf, clove, and cracked pepper. Long and zesty on the finish, this works equally well with grilled vegetables or big hunks of meat.
- Ch Montelena Zinfandel Estate 2010 Product #26969 (In Stock)
-
-
From the winery famous for California's breakthrough Chardonnay and classic Cab, this is an elegant, almost European, take on Zinfandel. Aromas of bright plum, boysenberry, and dried fruit with accents of spice and coconut. Firm acid and ripe tannins frame blackberry and red-berry fruit with a meaty hint of hoisin and soy. Notes of walnut and smoked meat hide under the richly fruity, long, finish.
- Robert Biale Zinfandel Black Chicken Napa 2011 Product #27076 (In Stock)
-
-
By the time the inevitable and annual 90+ points score comes up, the 2011 Black Chicken will have flown the coop. So, if you love big, lush Zinfandel that comes loaded with black cherries, menthol, liquorice and sweet spices, grab this while you can. During Prohibition in the 1930s, when friends who called Aldo on the family party line asked for a dozen "black chickens," this is what they got!
