Dashe Cellars Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley 2012 Dashe Cellars Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley 2012

Here's a ripe, impeccably balanced, Zinfandel that will be as much fun to pair with bold foods (pepper-rubbed steak or salmon!) as it is to just enjoy on its own.

"Bright ruby-red. Red berry and cherry aromas are brightened by cracked pepper and fresh flowers. A tangy midweight that offers fresh cherry and raspberry flavors, energizing acidity and a silky texture. Gains sweetness on the finish, with the peppery note repeating."International Wine Cellar 89 points

Novy Ziinfandel Russian River 2012 Product #29267 (In Stock)

Yes, it's big (15.7%) but the fleshy texture avoids heaviness or any fat.  Finishes warm and rich.

"Deeply pitched black and blue fruit aromas are complicated by notes of licorice and mocha, with a peppery nuance adding lift. Broad, fleshy and gently sweet, offering smoky blackcurrant and cherry compote flavors and a touch of fruitcake. Tightens up on the lengthy finish, which is firmed by dusty tannins and leaves a spicy note behind."International Wine Cellar 89 points

Prisoner Wine Company Saldo Zinfandel 2012 Product #28334 (In Stock)
Prisoner Wine Company Saldo Zinfandel 2012 Prisoner Wine Company Saldo Zinfandel 2012

The most impressive vintage for Saldo yet!  As always, mainly Zinfndel (85%) plus Petite Sirah (9%) and a dash Syrah from top vineyards all across California.  In this great Zinfandel vintage, there's as much ripe flavor as ever - luscious dark  raspberry, boysenberry, blackberry fruit - and plenty of cracked pepper, dark chocolate and roasted coffee and spice accents. But, there's a touch more focus, precision and class here than you'd expect and even as the fruit and spice flavors gush through the wine's finish, things stay poised and even refreshing.  Fun to sip and a great match for big BBQ flavors!

Prisoner 2013 Product #28919 (In Stock)
Prisoner 2013 Prisoner 2013

As always, the Prisoner is not for the faint hearted, although it’s become considerably better mannered since Jen Beloz took over winemaking.  It’s a big - right around 15% alcohol - California red that escapes from the glass with an explosion of super-ripe red and black fruit plenty of spicy oak. It’s always an exotic flavor profile from an exotic blend:  In 2013 44% Zinfandel, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Syrah, 18% Petite Sirah, and 2% Charbono. The plush, ripe, fruit comes from some of California’s top vineyards, including Korte, Page Nord, York Creek, Hudson and Black Sears.

Like you, we don’t get to taste Prisoner until Haloween, but winemaker Jen Beloz’s notes are sure to make your mouth water!  “Aromas of briar fruits and dried cherry are accented by hints of vanilla and toasted oak. On the palate, tiers of blueberry, ripe mulberry and boysenberry give way to an edge of espresso, cracked pepper and a seasoning of fall spice. These dense aromas and flavors culminate in a lingering finish framed by refined tannins.”

"The 2013 Proprietary Red Blend The Prisoner is a creative blend of 44% Zinfandel, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Petite Sirah, as well as Syrah, Grenache and Charbono. This dense, full-bodied, opulent red reveals gutsy, rich, peppery, meaty, blackberry, blackcurrant and licorice notes. A savory, lusty, heady red, it begs for a grilled steak or a big, juicy hamburger. Drink it over the next 4-5 years."Wine Advocate 92 points
