"The (largely new) barrique-fermented Mellot 2008 Sancerre Edmond is briskly and pungently scented with lemon zest, under-ripe pineapple, and gooseberry. Aggressively saline and resinous as well as bitter by way of its notes of lemon pip and rind, this nonetheless sustains a bright fresh lemon and pineapple juiciness through its long finish. A slightly metallic note adds to the almost glare-like persistence of this dense and undeniably audacious essay in Sancerre Sauvignon, one that is almost bound to prove an acquired taste, and about whose ability to age well I can only remain mildly skeptical."Wine Advocate 89 points
