Here the wine is a complete reflection of what a great producer can do in Ribera del Duero with Tempranillo. Initally, the wine starts off with an attractive toasted oak character which offers fine points of mocha, chocolate and peppery elements. After about an hour open the wine shows a completely different expression of aromatics, the oak is complimented by the rich and intensely concentrated red fruit presenting a wine that has a smooth and flavorful mouthfeel with perfectly extracted tannins together with a lively lift of acidity on the finish.
The 100% Tempranillo 2005 Jaros Crianza was aged in one third new French and American oak for 14 months. Its expressive nose gives up aromas of smoke, mineral, leather, and black cherry. Elegant on the palate, it has outstanding concentration, loads of savory fruit, and enough structure to permit 5-7 years of further evolution. Drink this lengthy effort from 2014 to 2025.Wine Advocate 90 points
