This 100% estate grown Picpoul de Pinet clearly demonstrates just how under-rated this variety is. We loved the 2008 for its pretty aromas of white flowers, lemon/lime citrus, and anise/fennel notes plus its crisp, minerally, texture plus granny smith apple, green melon, and lemon/lime flavors. The 2009 vintage gives a very similar wine but with a touch more ripe apple fruit, a bit more amplitude in the mouth, and greater freshness. This is just a great all-around daily white, with enough flavor and body to shine by itself at a party and enough complexity and depth to pair well with freshwater fish and lighter poultry dishes. Tremendous value!
