Celler Cecilio is based in Gratallops, in the heart of Priorat. They are a family business that has been dedicated to the wine production since 1942 when the firm was first founded by Cecilio Vicent, the father of the present owner, August Vicent. Their vineyards, which are planted on terraces of steep slopes typical from this area, total of 8 hectares, of which 3 hectares are Garnacha, 3 hectares Cabernet Sauvignon and 2 hectares Carinena.
The estate's flagship wine from the 2003 vintage was the big hit of our recent Priorat dinner. Certainly ripe, there's a big burst of blueberry and dark black cherry fruit here. But, there's also plenty of classic smoky slate and herb Priorat character as well. Great wine for rich food.
