Very limited! When Ken Wright visited us last April, we were excited to taste his Pinot Noir and even his Pinot Blanc – it never occurred to us that he made a Chardonnay! He certainly does, and it was one of the best sellers of the tasting!
Unlike all of Ken’s other wines, his Celio Vineyard Chardonnay comes from Washington State, just across the Colombia River from Oregon. The grapes grow on the side of an extinct volcano, with vine roots digging as much as 100 meters into the loose cinders that pass for soil. The result is a midweight wine loaded with juicy orchard fruits and melon and hints of rose petals and herb. The finish is super long with notes of fresh butter and baking spice lingering nicely.
When we got the chance to snap up the last few cases in Virginia at about 35% off, we jumped. Come taste, but get it before it’s all gone!
