Bouissiere makes one of the best Gigondas for the money you'll ever find, but their "Les Amis" blend is an even better value. A blend of Grenache, Syrah plus a little Merlot, the 2008 Les Amis once again gives the impression of being a "baby Gigondas." Aromas of black cherry, kirsch, earth and a hint of lavender jump out of the glass. In the mouth, the wine is silky and fresh, with more cherry and raspberry fruit, earth, a hint of herb and maybe even a note of fresh ground coffee. The finish is clean and bright with very light, ripe, tannin. A great everyday Rhone value!
