Pascal Maillard's delicious Chorey-les-Beaune Rouge is always one of the best-selling Burgundies in the store, and we know the 2008 vintage will do just as well. Pascal farms five different parcels in Chorey-les-Beaune and vinifies each on its own. Every winter, importer Olivier Daubresse works with Pascal to create a selection from the five tanks that demonstrates the best balance of forward fruit, earth, and ripe tannins. I was fortunate enough to participate in blending the 2008 Chorey Rouge, and I think you'll agree we did pretty well!
The aromas feature dark, intense, cherries plus notes of red plum, fresh ground coffee, and a bit of smoke. It’s round, soft, and silky on the palate, with dark fruit, more coffee, some damp earth and crème frache. Super easy to drink, but some sneaky tannin at the end gives the wine structure to go with the ripe fruit. A great wine to enjoy with roasted poultry, veal or pork with mushrooms. Delicious, and once again one of the best Pinot Noirs we carry in the store for under $30.
