I’d love to wax eloquent about this producer, but I’ve never heard of them before and can’t find anything about them online (at least in English). The wine, though, speaks for itself. It’s made from 100% Roussanne, a key white wine grape in the Rhone Valley and South of France that has a tendency to give heavy, even flabby, wines.
The 2009 Mas de Chabert, though, shows another side to this variety! On the nose loads of peach and apricot fruit and a little peach blossom and a touch of lemon oil. In the mouth more stone fruit (apricot especially), peach skin, lemon rind, and a bunch of other cool flavors swirl around in a vibrant, zippy, package. A perfect wine to drink on its own or with poultry or fish.
