The Costamagna family has been growing and making wine in Rocche di la Morra since 1841. Son.  Today, Allessandro Costamagna now oversees all aspects of the growing and winemaking process in the family's beautiful subterranean winery, built into the side of a vineyard hill in the famous Piemonte village of La Morra. Costamagna remains best known for their Barolo, but their Barberas are increasingly sought after.

Fruit for the Barbera d'Alba Annunziata 2007 grows in a single vineyard in the village of Annunziata.  The extra concentration and depth of flavor gained from this fine, old, vineyard allows the wine to stand up to 12 months of aging in Slavonian cask and French oak barrels. The result is a richer style Barbera that still delivers the fresh acidic tang chararacteristic of this varietal.  Plenty of spicy cherry fruit, round and silky texture, and a long juicy finish make this a great match for pasta, pizza, and grilled white meats.
