Of all the "Rhone Rangers" working in California's Paso Robles Valley, Tablas Creek has proven itself the most consistently excellent.  Drawing on the expertise of the co-owner Perrin family (Ch Beaucastel), Tablas Creek turns out ripe, balanced, and very delicious wines year-after-year.  The 2008 Cotes de Tablas Rouge is another successful vintage for this great value offering.  The wine has a floral aromatic that is quite seductive. The palate is a bit juicier than previous vintages, with currants, spiced strawberry, and granny smith apple skin in the back. The wine is also a bit more tanninc than previous vintages, but their presence is well integratted and gives some guts to the juicy raspberries in the front palate. Easy to drink now, this will also improve for another 5 years.
