A Blockbuster Spring Tasting Featuring Grüner, Rioja, Terre Nere and Brunello from Casanova di Neri – Free Weekend Tastings
Not sure what you’ve got planned for this Friday (from 3-7) and Saturday (from noon-4pm), but if it doesn’t include time for a visit to our tasting table, you might want to start revising your schedule! Five great wines open both days, ranging from crisp, fresh, great value Grüner Veltliner and California Chardonnay to robust Rioja and Sicilian reds.
And, we’ll showcase two different wines from one of the very best Brunello di Montalcino estates: Casanove di Neri. On Friday, we’ll pour the more open and immediately engaging Brunello “White Label,” while on Saturday we’ll share the oaked, intense, Tenuta Nuova. You’ll want to try them both!
Join us Friday from 3-7pm and Saturday from noon-4 to try:
Anton Bauer Grüner Veltliner Gmörk 2015 – Our favorite great value Grüner is an even better deal this weekend from $8.98/ea. As Wine Enthusiast says in their 90 point review, it’s “Friendly and very moreish.” A fancy way of saying the bottle will be empty before you know it!
Bishops Peak Chardonnay Central Coast 2015 - What a great bottle of California Chardonnay for Spring/Summer sipping! Done in tank and used French oak, it's fresh, full of fruit, and 100% delicious in a "Wow! - That's amazing!" kind of way. Very much deserving the Vinous 90 point rating.
Terre Nere Etna Rosso Santo Spirito 2014 - If you love great Brunello, Burgundy or Barolo, it’s time to get to know Nerello Mascalese! This rich Mount Etna red from Italian legend Marc De Grazia is full, fleshy, and very worthy of its 96 point rating from James Suckling.
Bodegas Vinsacro Rioja Dioro 2010 – A modern take on Rioja from a very old-fashioned vineyard, this is both full of “international” style black fruit and laced with classic Rioja herb and spice. As Wine Advocate says in the 92 point review, it “opens to an explosion of flowers and ripe blueberries that is very perfumed. It feels quite modern and aromatic with well-integrated oak and a luscious palate.”
Casanove di Neri Brunello di Montalcino "White Label" 2012 (Friday) and Brunello Tenuta Nuova 2012 (Saturday) – As Wine Advocate says, “Casanova di Neri is one of the shining stars of Montalcino…There's a higher degree of texture and richness on display, and this is not often the case with Sangiovese.” This weekend, we’ll showcase the winery’s 2012 Brunello, with the “Normale” on Friday and the benchmark, new oak aged, Tenuta Nuova on Saturday. Not to be missed!
We look forward to seeing you both days!
