Beaujolais Beauties in Red and Pink

These two wines will introduce you to the wonder of what are probably the three best back-to-back-to-back vintages ever in Beaujolais – 2014, 2015 and 2016.  If you care about such things, they’ll mark you clearly as a “wine insider,” someone who knows that no wine region in the world has improved its wine growing and making so much over the past 20 years by essentially doing less and less.

And, if you forget all of that and just pour the wine into a glass, take a sip, and let the flavors and aromas wrap you in deep fruit, stony granite minerality, and fresh, citrusy, acidity…well, they will add humungous amounts of pleasure and joy to your life.  Mix/match for best six and 12 bottle prices while they last.

Take a look at the gushing reviews below.  Know this – they actually UNDERSTATE how great this wine is.  If you’ve ever wondered why wine people are always trying to get you to drink more Beaujolais, this is the wine that makes that case.  Delicious right now, even better next year, and compelling through 2025 and beyond.

“Limpid ruby-red. Bright and energetic on the nose, displaying incisive red and dark berry, floral pastille and Asian spice scents and a zesty mineral topnote. Palate-staining raspberry and bitter cherry flavors deepen and become sweeter as the wine opens up. Delivers a serious dose of densely packed fruit flavor while coming off graceful, showing no rough edges and an impressively long, mineral-driven finish. This year's rendition of this classic bottling is a must-buy for longtime fans of this historic estate.” Vinous (Raynolds) 93 points

"Bottled 3 weeks prior to my visit, the 2015 Côte de Brouilly was very closed on the nose though you can tell that it is packed to the rafters with fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with intense red and black fruit, superb mineralité and harmony, gradually building in the mouth with a compelling, tensile finish. What a fantastic Beaujolais in the making - about as good as it gets to be quite honest. If I taste a better QPR wine this year...no, just impossible."Wine Advocate 94 points

Ch Thivin Beaujolais Villages Rose 2016 Product #32038 (In Stock)

Proof that not all great pink wine has to come from the South of France!  This is 100% naturally grown Gamay, harvested by hand, moved in whole bunches by gravity into a fermentation tank, and allowed to start bubbling away whenever the winery’s resident yeast population gets around to the job.  After a day’s fermentation, the tank is drained, the bunches lightly pressed, and the vivid orange-pink juice allowed to flow into stainless steel to finish dry.

A great bottle of rosé delights all the senses, including your sense of sight.  Here the fun starts even before you pull the cork, with a stylish frosted bottle and classic, even old-fashioned, label that epitomizes the state of Beaujolais today:  modern quality meets elegant tradition.  In the glass, this orange-pink beauty serves us soaring aromas of tangy cherry, fresh crushed raspberry, just picked strawberry and a twist of orange peel.  The fresh fruit flavors fill up your mouth and zip across your palate, leaving mid-summer watermelon and fresh peach flavors lingering on the long, dry, finish.  A Vinous 90 point rosé in 2013, 2014 and 2015 reaches new heights this year!
