End of Summer Excitement – Free Weekend Tastings Saturday and Sunday!

Let’s enjoy our respite from the “dog days of summer) and celebrate that Monday’s eclipse didn’t signal the end of the world by enjoying some great wines this Friday from noon-4 and Saturday from noon-4pm.  You’ll find all three of this week’s featured wines – including the simply stunning Abbazia di Novacella Kerner Praepositus from this week’s Collectors offering – plus a couple of staff and store favorites.  Join us both days to taste:

Ch St. Martin de la Garrigue Picpoul de Pinet 2016 - Lemon peel, tangy pineapple, green apple and fresh, salty, sea breeze swirl across your tongue andt coats your palate with agreeable richness and finishes salty, lemony, minty, and very fresh.  You've never had Picpoul like this before, and once you try it (especially with shrimp, oysters, or clams), you'll struggle to go back.

Abbazia di Novacella Kerner Praepositus 2016 – One of the most exciting young whites we’ve tasted in the past few years (and the 95 point 2015 was one of the others!).  Generous, exotic, aromatic, very mineral and even more unique, this is a white you don’t want to miss.

Pago Casa Gran Casa Benasal Elegant Tinto 2014 – An all tank/no oak blend of Garnacha Tintorera, Monestrel and Syrah from Valencia that really explodes with fresh, juicy, fruit and spice.  A delicious late summer red with a chill or served warmer to match rich foods.

Dom Jean Royer Le Petit Roy 15eme – Sure, the label says “Vin de Table” but your palate will tell you “really close to Chateauneuf du Pape!”  From vineyards just outside and inside the CdP zone with a little declassified CdP as well, this is rich, round and smooth.  Tons of flavor, tons of fun!

Zeitgeist Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2014 – A bold and plush exemplar of Napa’s luxurious 2014 harvest, this tiny production (342 cases) Cabernet Sauvignon coats your palate with deep, dark, fruit and spicy oak.  Rarely seen outside of California and a treat to taste.

As always, we’ll have a treat or two from the cheese case out to try and best pricing on all wines available on a mix/match basis during the tasting.  Join us!
