Memorial Day Weekend Treat Bargains and Splurges – Free Memorial Day Friday and Saturday Tastings

It’s Memorial Day – the official start of summer sipping season!  We know many of you will be out of town for the holiday weekend, but for all who stay local, come by the shop and sample some terrific treats.  If you’re looking for bargains, we’ve got great values in Chardonnay from Australia and Tempranillo from Spain.  If you’re looking for something special, check out super-premium Sancerre and Napa Cabernet Sauvignon at very attractive prices.  And, if you’re looking for a pretty pink, then we’ve got the prettiest – Ch Les Valentines 2016!  Come by Friday from 3-7pm or Saturday from noon-4pm to sample:

Ch Les Valentines Rose Cotes De Provence 2016 – The best Provençal rosé we carry year-in, year-out, is even better in the truly stunning 2016 harvest.  Ripe, round, a little stony, full of crushed berry fruit, and dry on the finish, you just won’t find a better pink wine this year.

St Kilda Chardonnay Southeastern Australia 2016 – A bit left from our feature a couple of weeks ago and well worth trying (or re-trying if you had it before).  Does pretty much everything you’d hope for in a $10 Chardonnay, but costs as little as $6.98.  A winner!

Henri Bourgeois Sancerre La Chapelle des Augustins 2014  - We do a land-office business with Henri Bourgeois “regular” Sancerre and the “baby” Sancerre, Petit Bourgeois.  If you like those wines – heck, if you like any Sancerre! – try this deeply concentrated, wildly complex, 92 point stunner from pur chalk soils.

Castil Harria Reserva Navarra 2005  - You might not expect a nearly 12 year-old blend of Temparnillo plus dashes of Garnacha, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with a few months in oak to taste fresh, festive and fun.  And you certainly wouldn’t expect it to do all that for under $10.  Come, taste, have your expectations shattered!

Hoopla Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2013 – There just aren’t enough sub-$50 Napa Cabernets out there that deliver both intense black fruit and layered spice AND finish with a good dose of grippy tannin.  This 93 point stunner does all that right now, will get better over the next decade, and can be yours from $44.98 – the lowest price in the USA.

We hope to see you this Memorial Day weekend, but not on Monday – we’ll be closed then so our staff can enjoy the holiday, too.  Thanks!
