Spotlight on St. Innocent with Owner/Winemaker Mark Vlossak
Thursday, March 23, 7pm
Course Fee:  $40

Since founding St. Innocent in 1988, Mark Vlossak has become one of the most influential and distinctive winemakers of Oregon’s Willamette Valley.  And he remains one of the most outspoken!  Join us on Thursday, March 23, to meet Mark, hear the St. Innocent story, and taste an amazing set of benchmark wines.

As Mark told Wine Advocate, “I want to make wine to eat with, wine that can age and wine that is complex. I’ve reduced the new wood since 2001, and I’m looking to express site location - above and below the surface. Vintage expression is also very important. The idea is not to make ‘the best’ wine every vintage, but rather express the difference between the growing seasons. I want the wines to be different from each other.”

I’d add that no one does texture like Mark.  All of his wines – red and white – possess lovely richness and density, even a sense of plushness, without any excess of ripeness or weight.  You’ll quickly see what I mean as we taste seven great wines including a simply stunning Pinot Blanc!  See the full list of wines on tasting at this link where you can also reserve your seats online.  Or just stop by or call us at the store - 703.356.6500.

Spotlight on Patricia Green Cellars with Co-Winemaker Jim Anderson
Tuesday, May 9, 7pm
Course Fee $40

Patricia Green Cellars has been among our favorite Willamette Valley wine estates for a few years now, both for the quality of the wines and the character of the people – co-winegrowers Patty Green and Jim Anderson.  After a great visit with Patty last year exploring their 2014s, you won’t want to miss the chance to meet Jim and get to know a sizzling set of 2015 releases!

Tasting through the 2015s (and some pretty impressive barrel samples of 2016s) earlier this year, I was once again impressed by the mix of no compromise purity and “wow that’s really delicious” fun Patty and Jim bring to Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.  Jim will help you understand how he and Patty make this magic happen and taste the unique character of each vineyard site they work with.  We’ll share 8 wines including the estate’s top bottling:  Notorious.  See all the details and full wine list here and reserve your seats online or by calling us at 703.356.6500 today!

Spotlight On The Majestic Rhone Wines of E. Guigal from Cotes du Rhone to Cote Rotie
Thursday, June 1, 7pm
Course Fee $50

“Legendary.”  “Masterful.” “Extraordinary.”  These are the kinds of words you hear again and again from experts and critics about the winemaking and wines of E. Guigal.  Founded by Etienne Guigal and managed today by son and grandson Marcel and Philippe Guigal, this is the estate that led the re-birth of the Northern Rhone after WWII and continues to make great wines from Cote Rotie down to Chateauneuf-du-Pape today.

Come experience some of France’s greatest wines as Christophe Courteaud from Guigal’s US importer, Vintas, leads us through the history, vineyards, and wines of this great estate.  We’ll sample 7 whites and reds from both the Southern and Northern Rhone.  The tasting will include wines from legendary vineyards like Cote Rotie and Hermitage as well as exciting bottlings from St. Joseph, Chateauneuf du Pape and more.  See all the details and reserve your seats online here or by calling us at 703.356.6500 today.
