Thanksgiving Selections for Every Table! Free Daily, Friday and Saturday Tastings

Come into Chain Bridge Cellars anytime now through the day before Thanksgiving and you’re going to find some amazing Turkey Day selections open and ready to try!  Of course, both our free Friday and fres Saturday tastings feature Thanksgiving-ready goodies.  Before then, we’ll have at least one featured white and one featured red open daily to try.

And – because we know you’ll never buy them unless you give them a try – we’ll have at least one sweet wine open to sample every day now – Thanksgiving.  On Tuesday, we’ll open the most delicious, satisfying, Ruby Port we’ve ever tasted.  On Thursday, come try a rarity – a 100% botrytis, 100% Chardonnay, stickie from Oregon’s Willamette Valley.  And, over the weekend, Ice Cider!

On Friday from 3pm-7pm join us to sample:

Steininger Grüner Veltliner Grand Grü 2016 – The best vintage yet of this holiday staple, this is creamy, rich, very food-friendly Grüner with an extra dose of spice from gaining in Acacia wood.  Winner of a nice 92-94 point rating from Austria’s Falstaff magazine, too!

Brandborg Pinot Noir Benchlands 2014 – Our featured for Thanksgiving Pinot Noir delivers fine levels of ripe fruit and savory spice with a light color that looks pretty on your table and deep palate that will handle anything Turkey Day throws at it.  From $16.98, it’s outstanding value, too!

Corliss Red Blend 2012 – Ok, this has nothing to do with Thanksgiving.  But we don’t often see wines from this brilliant Columbia Valley estate and this 95+ point Bordeaux blend (50% Cabernet Sauvignon) is worth trying while you can.

Dom Jean Royer Chateauneuf Du Pape Tradition 2015 - A long-time, nicely rated, favorite CdP is sure to shine with any Thanksgiving fare.  This year's model has loads of dark, earthy, red fruit and nicely firm, food-frinedly, finish.

Dom Jean Royer Chateauneuf Du Pape Prestige 2015 - Older vines and a dose of 20% Mourvedre ramp up the concentration and earthy complexity of this 94-96 point stunner.  If your stuffing runs to the mushroom or chestnut direction, this will be the bottle you want on the table.  Just outstanding.

Then on Saturday from noon-4pm, a real treat – the first visit to the store in years of John Paul Cheski, owner/founder of Free Run Wine Merchants.  JP will be pouring an outstanding line-up of superb Thanksgiving selections:

Marcel Couturier Macon Loche Les Longues Terres 2014 - Chardonnay from the southernmost Burgundy region can be a great match with Thanksgiving, and this one is going to shine. Pretty fruit, for sure, but also the beginnings of bottle maturation on show with a sleek, nutty, finish.

Boschis Francesco Grignolino Piemonte 2016 - Want to try something light and fresh with Thanksgiving (I know I do!).  This snappy fresh cherry/berry red from Italy's Piemonte region will do the trick.  The kick of cranberry fruit matches turkey and stuffing and gravy like...well, like cranberry sauce!

Bedrock Wine Co Old Vine Zinfandel 2015 - Zinfandel and Thanksgiving are classic matches, and this Wine Spectator 93 point Zin will easily prove the point.  As Spectator says, it's "Rich and supple, this is an explosion of pure, decadent fruit."  At $25, this is a steal.

Brandborg Gewurztraminer 2014 - Classic Gewurz aromas here: rose petals, lychee, and hints of spice.  It's rich and mouthfilling, but finishes clean.  All of the exotic aromas and flavors are reigned in by a surprising amount of welcome acidity, making this a perfect partner for Thanksgiving feasts (and Inidan food, too!).

Eden Honeycrisp Ice Cider 375ml - Like ice wine? Strong cider? Honeycrisp apples?  All three come together in this deliciously sweet and spicy ice cider from New Hampshire.  It takes about 8 apples to make one 375ml bottle of this nectar, and every sip is loaded with sweet and tangy apple and pie spice complexity.

We’ll have some treats from the cheese case out to sample during both our Friday and Saturday tastings.  And, of course, our staff is on hand and ready to help you make your perfect Thanksgiving match.  Join us!
