Daily Pre-Thanksgiving Tastings: Terrific for Turkey Red, White and Sweet Selections!

Come by the shop anytime now – Wednesday and we’ll be delighted to give you a taste of our featured Thanksgiving selections plus a Piemonte value and luscious Ruby Port.  Wines out to taste right now:

Steininger Grüner Veltliner Grand Grü 2016 – the perennial Thanksgiving favorite is better than ever!

Brandborg Pinot Noir Benchlands 2014 – fantastic value in turkey-friendly Oregon Pinot Noir

Vajra Langhe Rosso 2014 – perfect light and fruity red to enjoy before and during the meal

Quinta De La Rosa Lote 601 Ruby Reserve NV (500ml) = Flat out the best “Ruby” Port we’ve ever tasted!

All perfect for Thanksgiving and great values, too!

Tasting Black Friday Afternoon (1-6pm):  Vajra Barolo, Wood Case Wonders and Holiday Fizz

Whether you need a break from Black Friday crowds or want to avoid them entirely, plan to stop by Chain Bridge Cellars on Friday afternoon for a relaxed, delicious, wine tasting.  Our tasting starts early – at 1pm – and ends at 6pm, so you’ve got plenty of time to come by and enjoy.

The tasting will kick off with the tasting debut of the holiday favorite Villa Jolanda Holiday Sparkling Wine, the frothy, festive, fizz in the bright blue holiday-themed bottle.  A great value all season long from $10.98, it’s a Black Friday deal at just $9.98/ea by the case this weekend.

Then sample two great value reds that just happen to come packed up in gift-friendly wood cases!  Both are fine everyday selections to enjoy yourself or serve to a crowd.  Or, take home a box and stick a bow on it:  Bam, just like that, you’ve got yourself a Christmas present!  We’re featuring:

Il Bastardo Sangiovese Toscana 2016 – Oh those crazy Italians.  We have no idea how they made such a delicious, juicy, pizza/pasta Tuscan red that could sell for $10 in the first place.  Why it’s now in a wood case and available to you from $6.98 is a delicious, great value, mystery!

Chapoutier Bila Haut Cotes Du Roussillon Villages 2016 – Year-in, year-out, one of the greatest values from France’s value-heavy Languedoc region.  This is organically grown, heartily made, Grenache/Syrah blend that’s loaded with aromas and flavors of cracked pepper, roasted blackberry, and hot stones.

Then we’ll wrap up with three Piemonte gems from the benchmark producer, Vajra.  You’ll taste:

Vajra Langhe Rosso 2014 – A Wine Spectator 90 point beauty that’s light on its feet, full of juicy red fruit, and a steal from $11.98

Vajra Barolo Albe 2013 – Rich and powerful, for sure, but also elegant and nicely perfumed.  As Galloni says, “The Single Best Value In Barolo Today.”

Vajra Barolo Bricco della Viole 2013 – Always impressive, especially in this elegant, pure, complex and long edition that earned a huge 97 point rating.

With special, mix/match, pricing on all SEVEN wines open, we know you’ll find something just right to sip and share.

Small Business Saturday Tasting (noon-4pm):  Pol Roger, Barolo, Rhone and one 100 Point Stickie

While we think you should support your locally-owned merchants all year long (admittedly:  we’re biased!), the Saturday after Thanksgiving has become an especially great day to “shop small.”  And as a “Thanks!” for your support all year long, this Small Business Saturday we’re going to pour a glorious rarity – a 100 point, nicely mature, utterly gobsmacking, sweet wine from Loire Valley legend Domaine Huet.  Join us from noon-4pm on Saturday to sampler:

Villa Jolanda Holiday Sparkling Wine – festive fizzy fun from $9.98 this weekend

Pol Roger Brut Reserve NV – a rich but elegant release of this Champagne benchmark

Chapoutier Bila Haut Cotes Du Roussillon Villages 2016 – stunning value rated 89-90 points by Wine Advocate

Clos Du Caillou CdR Bouquet Des Garrigues 2015 – big, rich, and palate coating and lowest price in the USA, too!

Vajra Barolo Albe 2013 – no better Barolo value than this Wine Advocate 92 point gem

Dom Huet Vouvray Cuvee Constance 2003 500ml – A perfect, Wine Advocate 100 point Chenin Blanc that will last forever on your palate and in your cellar.

For those of you who missed last Sunday’s Tuscan Festival, we’ll have some savory salami from Tuscan-transplants (to Richmond, VA) Terre di Siena to sample with the wines.  Round up a big crew of fellow wine-lovers, come taste the perfect, 100 point, Huet, and support your favorite local wine store this Small Business Saturday!
