Moulin De Gassac Guilhem Rose 2016 Product #31771 (In Stock)
Moulin De Gassac Guilhem Rose 2016 Moulin De Gassac Guilhem Rose 2016

Our first 2016 rosé is a winner!  It’s equal parts Syrah and Carignan, grown and harvested fresh just for rosé.  After a few hours of fermentation, the juice is pressed off the black grape skins, giving it a just-right amount of color and structure while allowing the juice to retain all of its natural freshness and vibrancy.

As soon as you see this in your glass, you know you’re in for a treat.  It’s a beautifully transparent salmon pink that almost sparkles in sunshine.  Aromas of fresh picked strawberries and crushed red fruits – raspberries and cherries – get a lift from floral accents and a hint of citrus rind.  In the mouth, it’s bright and crisp with loads of berry fruit and just a touch of mineral, showcasing the short 2016 vintage’s silky texture and ripe fruit.  The acids come up on the finish and make your mouth water, leaving you looking for a little bite to eat or another refreshing sip.  Drink this on its own anytime you like, or pair it with anything from smoked salmon to fruited chicken salad.  “Berry” delicious!

French Libation Rose Pamplemousse NV Product #31029 (In Stock)
French Libation Rose Pamplemousse NV French Libation Rose Pamplemousse NV

For years on hot summer days in France's deep south, locals built a refreshing pre-dinner drink from local rosé wine lightened up with a big squeeze of grapefruit juice.  Served on ice with or without a spash of soda, Rosé Pamplemousse (French for grapefruit) was a local favorite to enjoy with family and friends.

Over the past few years, pre-prepared Pamplemousse rosé has swept France as a delicious, fun, low-alcohol, treat to be enjoyed anywhere, anytime.  Now you can get in on the fun, too!  Our Rose Pamplemousse starts with cheerful dry pink wine from southern France, leavened with a touch of spritz and all natural grapefruit and peach flavors.  Unlike most examples, there's no added sugar or syrup here, so the big, ripe, rosé and grapefruit flavors finish dry, crisp, and clean.  Drink cold from the refrigerator, on ice, and with or without a pour of sparkling water or Prosecco for a fun and delicious warm weather pick-me-up.

Anton Bauer Rose Feuersbrunn 2016 Product #32331 (In Stock)
Anton Bauer Rose Feuersbrunn 2016 Anton Bauer Rose Feuersbrunn 2016

Two-time Austrian “Winemaker of the Year” Anton Bauer's Rosé Feuersbrunn (named for the Wagram town where it’s grown) has always been tasty but the 2016 edition reaches some very high heights indeed.  It looks even better with the pink label you’ll find here (vs. the black text on other export bottles), so we bought enough to get some labeled just for you and to bring the price down to rock-bottom levels, too!

Rosé Feuersbrunn 2016 starts with one of Austria’s own red grapes – Zweigelt – for bright fruit and then adds Austrian up-and-commers Merlot and Syrah for depth and complexity.  It’s a pretty, assertive, pink in the glass with bold aromas of ripe watermelon, fresh strawberry, summer flowers and just picked herb.  On the palate it’s broad and full of watermelon, strawberry and redcurrant fruit with lively accents of tangerine oil and lemon zest.  The flavors really fill your mouth with satisfaction before a lip-smacking, crisp, finish of cranberry, watermelon and herb pops and lingers on.  Definitely a delight right now, but hold onto a few bottles – it will be better still at Thanksgiving and next spring!

Dom Du Dragon Grande Cuvee Rose Cotes De Provence 2016 Product #31897 (In Stock)
Dom Du Dragon Grande Cuvee Rose Cotes De Provence 2016 Dom Du Dragon Grande Cuvee Rose Cotes De Provence 2016

Since the 2001 vintage first appeared in the store years ago, Dragon Rosé has been a consistent customer and staff favorite year after year.  The Lienard family tends about 50 acres of vines in Provence and makes this from Cinsault, Syrah, Grenache, and a nice dose of Rolle grown just for pink wine.  Grapes are grown specifically for rosé and are harvested at the perfect balance of fresh fruit and juicy acidity.  Once in the winery, they are lightly crushed and allowed to pick up a just right touch of pink color and red berry flavor before pressing and finishing fermentation in cool stainless steel tanks.  A lovely match for everything from grilled salmon to Salade Niçoise and delightful to sip on its own.

"Editors' Choice Located at the base of the Sainte-Victoire mountain, this vineyard, owned by the Dragon family for four generations, has produced a ripe wine, full-bodied and with concentration. It has raspberry flavors and a touch of spice that gives the wine extra richness."Wine Enthusiast 91 points

Margerum Riviera Rose Santa Barbara 2016 Product #31996 (In Stock)
Margerum Riviera Rose Santa Barbara 2016 Margerum Riviera Rose Santa Barbara 2016

Proof that you can make classic, refreshing, rose in California!  A blend of Grenache and Syrah picked and pressed for crisp rose plus dollops of saignee Cinsault, Counoise, and Mourvedre.  Fresh and easy drinking with bold ripe strawberry and tangy raspberry fruit and a pretty dash of very Provencal herb.  Crisp and clean on the juicy finish, drink this with a light chill (or just toss an ice cube in the glass!).

"Quite light in the glass but unmistakably pink, this Grenache-based rose shows a lime-driven citrus rind character on the crisp nose, gaining a touch of fruit from delicate watermelon and slight bubblegum scents. There is a touch of effervescence on the palate, where delicious and zesty lime, pink peach and more watermelon flavors come into play."Wine Enthusiast 90 points

Dom de l'Olivette Bandol Rose 2016 Product #32074 (In Stock)
Dom de l'Olivette Bandol Rose 2016 Dom de l'Olivette Bandol Rose 2016

We love Bandol rosé, but the most famous wines of this sunny region on the Mediterranean Sea are a) hardly ever available; and b) cost $30+.  So tasting real Bandol pink that sells for under $20 ...well, we think you'll agree it's a treat! The aromas and flavors are classic Provence, with tangy strawberry, sweet peach and tart raspberry fruit complicated by notes of orange peel and fruit blossoms. The classic blend of Mourvedre and Grenache gives the wine plenty of mouthfilling heft - making this a great rose for food! - while tangy acids, a handfull of crushed herb and a bone dry finish keep things fresh and all around delicious.

Dom De La Mordoree Tavel Rose La Dame Rousse 2016 Product #32298 (In Stock)
Dom De La Mordoree Tavel Rose La Dame Rousse 2016 Dom De La Mordoree Tavel Rose La Dame Rousse 2016

As Robert Parker said, “If you haven't discovered, Mordorée continues to make some of the finest dry Rosés available anywhere in the world.”  And this, their flagship Tavel, is simply one of the finest pink wines you’ll be able to find anywhere this season.  The magic starts with 40 year-old plantings of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, and Mourvedre - the black grapes for color - and 5% each of Clairette and Bourboulenc - the white grapes for vivacity and freshness.  After harvest, the grapes are crushed and allowed to soak in their juice for 3-4 days to extract flavor and aroma and also a rich, dark, salmon color.

Like any great Tavel, this is more deep, intense, and seriously red wine-like than most rosés you’ve experienced.  Big aromas of ripe strawberries, roses, orange blossom and creamy framboise jump from the glass.  On the palate, its rich, mouthfilling, and creamy in texture with intense berry and floral flavors lifted by a pop of bright acidity and chalky mineral on the long, dry, lipsmacking, finish.  A serious rosé for a contemplative glass of wine on the back deck while the sun sets, or to wow your guests at your next warm-weather dinner party. And don’t forget to put away a few bottles for the holidays, because this is the answer to the age-old question of what to serve at Thanksgiving this year or for 2 or 3 years to come!

"This is a full-bodied, ripe and rich example of Tavel. Flourishes of dried flowers and spices dress up ripe melons and berries, finishing long and warming. It's a rosé tailor made for cool end-of-summer evenings."Wine Enthusiast 91 points
