Clairon Des Anges Costieres De Nimes Rouge 2015 Product #32704 (In Stock)
Clairon Des Anges Costieres De Nimes Rouge 2015 Clairon Des Anges Costieres De Nimes Rouge 2015

The kind of wine Languedoc does best - a great all-purpose, no oak, quaffer made from 60% Grenache (for ripe red fruit) and 40% Syrah (for meaty, smoky, accents). Dark red raspberry fruit holds center stage with hints of blackberry and savory notes of pepper and black olive for interest.  Juicy and easy drinking with a fun, mouthwatering, finish.  Tastes like $15 - and a good $15 red at that!

Moulin De Gassac Guilhem Rose 2017 Product #33021 (In Stock)
Moulin De Gassac Guilhem Rose 2017 Moulin De Gassac Guilhem Rose 2017

2017 brings a nice update to the label for Moulin de Gassac Guilhem Rose and a bit of an upgrade to what is already one of our most popular pinks.  Nothing's changed about the wine growing or making. It’s equal parts Syrah and Carignan, grown and harvested fresh just for rosé.  After a few hours of fermentation, the juice is pressed off the black grape skins, giving it a just-right amount of color and structure while allowing the juice to retain all of its natural freshness and vibrancy.

The wine's a beautifully transparent salmon pink that sparkles in sunshine.  Aromas of fresh picked strawberries and crushed red fruits – raspberries and cherries – get a lift from floral accents and a hint of citrus rind.  In the mouth, it’s bright and crisp but also fleshy and rich, with loads of ripe berry fruit and just a touch of mineral. It fills your mouth with flavor and fun before the acids come up on the finish and make your mouth water, leaving you looking for a little bite to eat or another refreshing sip. “Berry” delicious!

Here's the kind of easygoing, drink with anything, red that France's Languedoc region does so well.  Nice dusky fruit and a soft supple finish make this easy to love.

Best Buy "Cherries, dusty earth and faint herbal notes define the aromatic spectrum and flavor range of this supple wine. The blend is 60% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre; drink it over the next few years."Wine Enthusiast 88 points

Forty Ounce Red (Gamay) 2016 (1.0 liter) Product #32648 (In Stock)
Forty Ounce Red (Gamay) 2016 (1.0 liter) Forty Ounce Red (Gamay) 2016 (1.0 liter)

Depending on how you look at it, this throw-back 1 liter bottle (looking like a 40 oz "bomber" of malt liquor) is either really clever or really tacky.  But it's certainly a really good value in a really, really, good wine.  It's 100% Gamay from Sommelier Patrick Cappiello and winemaker Julien Brand that's loaded with ripe, plummy, fruit.  This is "fruity" the way the French do "fruity," with big aromas and flavors of just ripe strawberry and cherry and just a hint of herb for interest.  A great party red, a thirst quenching afternoon reviver, and fun for Thanksgiving, too.

Collection Sinsans Cabernet Sauvignon Pays d'Oc 2016 Product #33357 (In Stock)
Collection Sinsans Cabernet Sauvignon Pays d'Oc 2016 Collection Sinsans Cabernet Sauvignon Pays d'Oc 2016

Whatever a happened to Cabernet Sauvignon from the Languedoc?  It was a "thing" a decade ago, and this rich and fleshy Cab suggests it could be a thing again right now!  From terraced vineyards about 7 miles from the Roman city of Nimes, it's 100% Cabernet aged in large oak cask.  Nicely fleshy in texture, it serves up aromas and flavors of ripe raspberry and currant and a touch of spicy oak.  A dried raspberry note adds interest on the spicy but smooth and easy finish.  Certainly a fine match for a good burger or steak, but this will serve as a party pour just as well!

Castelmaure Corbieres Col Des Vents 2016 Product #33156 (In Stock)
Castelmaure Corbieres Col Des Vents 2016 Castelmaure Corbieres Col Des Vents 2016

There’s nothing not to like and everything to love about this robust blend of 50% Carignan, 35% Grenache, and 15% Syrah from the barren hills of Languedoc’s Corbieres region.  Generous aromas of crushed blackberry, black plum, cracked pepper, cocoa, warm stones and more jump from the glass.  Take a sip and you’ll love how the briary blackberry, blueberry and raspberry fruit coat your mouth and the accents of chocolate, stone, herb and pepper give extra complexity.  While the flavors are big and the texture rich, there’s a welcome dose of juicy acidity and fine-grained tannins that make this refreshing drunk solo and flexible at table, too.

If you thought this was good in the past - WOW!  You'll love the 2017 edition of this 100% estate grown Picpoul de Pinet. You’ll find pretty aromas of white flowers, lemon/lime citrus, and anise/fennel notes to start.  Then a crisp, minerally, texture with tart granny smith apple, green melon, and lemon/lime flavors and a clean, dry, finish.  This is just a great all-around, delicious, white, with enough flavor and body to shine by itself at a party and enough complexity and depth to pair well with freshwater fish and lighter poultry dishes.  Tremendous value!

I know - "Ugni Blanc" doesn't sound very appetizing.  So call it Vermentino and blend it with fleshy textured Columbard and you get a pretty fine summer sipper! Pretty much screams "refreshing" with it's zesty aromas and flavors of cut pineapple, green lime, and fresh grapefruit zest.  Finishes with a touch of herb and nice snap, making this a fine Sauvignon Blanc alternative for hot days.

Campet Ste Marie Chardonnay Pays d'Oc France 2015 Product #33185 (In Stock)
Campet Ste Marie Chardonnay Pays d'Oc France 2015 Campet Ste Marie Chardonnay Pays d'Oc France 2015

We think of France's Languedoc as a hot region built to turn out hearty reds.  But Limoux, just south of Carcassonne, is higher and cooler than most of the rest of Languedoc with chalky limestone soils and cooling Mediterranean breezes - perfect for fine Chardonnay!  And this one is very fine indeed, made from just ripe-enough fruit (13.5 alcohol) that is fermented cool and aged 9 months in used French oak.

Pretty aromas of stone fruit, citrus and oak spice lead to a round, fleshy, mouthful of Honeycrisp apple and baked pear flavors accented by notes of lemon curd and toasted nut.  The fruit turns more white (peach, apricot, apple) on the finish with a touch of fresh butter and refreshing, vibrant, acids.  A fine Bourgogne Blanc and Macon alternative to enjoy with salads, seafood and poultry or just to sip on its own.  Outstanding value, too!

Le Paradou Viognier 2016 Product #32662 (In Stock)
Le Paradou Viognier 2016 Le Paradou Viognier 2016

Too often inexpensive Viognier veers toward the cloying and blowsy, but not this fresh little beauty from the south of France.  Le Paradou opens with lovely aromas of honeysuckle and tropical fruits, but on the palate those tropical fruit aromas become crisp, but still-ripe flavors of pineapple and juicy orange.  This strikes just the balance that an inexpensive, aromatic white should: it's assertive enough to be interesting, but won't overpower everyday food. At a reasonable 13% alcohol, it's balanced enough to pair beautifully with Asian takeout or an entree salad.

Ch La Pujade Corbieres Le Petit Spencer 2015 Product #31661 (In Stock)
Ch La Pujade Corbieres Le Petit Spencer 2015 Ch La Pujade Corbieres Le Petit Spencer 2015

"The Little Spencer" is the "fun" wine from this respected Corbieres estate in the heart of sunny Languedoc.  It's a blend of 50% Carignan plus 20% Mourvedre and 15% each Syrah and Grenache, all grown in a natural amphitheater that gives and extra dose of ripeness. This tastes and feels like a more expensive wine with deep, rich, blue/black fruit, complex accents of hot stone, licorice, and garrigue and a nicely chewy finish.  Fun stuff especially with rustic, herb-laced, foods.

Dom Foretal Beaujolais Villages 2015 Product #32964 (In Stock)
Dom Foretal Beaujolais Villages 2015 Dom Foretal Beaujolais Villages 2015

Jean-Yves Perraud farms just 20 acres of Gamay in Moulin-a-Vent and Villages-level vineyards between Fleurie and Chenas. In 2015, he turned out a winning, ripe, gulpable Beaujolais Villages that you'll love drinking for refreshment and pairing with roast chicken or any simple meal.  There's the concentration and ripeness you'd expect from 40 year-old vines and the generous 2015 harvest, with loads of dark red cherry and ripe strawberry fruit.  A blast of floral perfume and stony minerality adds interest and a just right pop of cherry acids keeps things fresh and fun.

Wine Advocate's score (87 points) misses the mark a bit, but the words are spot on: "The 2015 Beaujolais Villages needs a leash on the nose to hold back all those exuberant kirsch and dark cherry fruit bursting from the glass. But that is what you want from this vintage. The palate is succulent and ripe with dark cherries and strawberry, sweet to the core and though missing a little definition on the finish, you'd have consumed the entire bottle before you start vexing about that. Glug 'n enjoy."  Exactly!

Kind of an old-school South-of-France red here with a bit of modern polish.  The blend is old-timey with 40% Grenache, 40% Caladoc, 10% Syrah and 10% Marselan all done in tank.  You'll certainly taste the warm, sunshiny, climate here in ripe plum and black raspberry fruit and there's a nice dose of black olive, thyme and lavender, too.  But the flavors stay as fresh as a daisy right on through the dusty, lightly chewy, finish.  Great all-purpose bistro red at a fine, weeknight, price.

Mission La Caminade Cahors 2016 Product #32978 (In Stock)
Mission La Caminade Cahors 2016 Mission La Caminade Cahors 2016

After Bordeaux largely dropped the grape in the late 1800s and before Argentinan wines exploded on the scene, if you wanted to drink Malbec, you found your way to Cahors.  South of Bordeaux, the "black wine of Cahors" gained fame for it's inky color, firm structure, and captivating blend of dark fruit, warm spice and loads of gravely minerality.  This is a great introduction to contemporary Cahors, with a dash of Merlot softening Malbec's firm, stony, edges.  Plenty of tangy fruit, layers of sweet and savory spice, and a darkly earthy finish make this a great match for stews, roasts and burgers.

"Clean, crisp and lively, with exotic notes of orange blossom, cherry blossom and hints of saline-like minerality, the 2016 Cote d'Est is medium-bodied, fresh and lively, with a clean, delicious style that will be versatile on the dinner table. This Northern Rhone specialist (based in St Joseph) does a great job with Cotes du Rhone from the south - like this ripe, plump, and easygoing blend of Grenache and 40% Syrah. Vintage 2016 is superb across the Rhone and here where dark, ripe, raspberry and black plum fruit gains complexity from accents of summer flowers and garrigue. Finishes fresh and long with savory, meaty, hints.  A smooth and robust sipper and match for pretty much anything.

Henri Bourgeois Sauvignon Petit Bourgeois 2016 Product #32523 (In Stock)
Henri Bourgeois Sauvignon Petit Bourgeois 2016 Henri Bourgeois Sauvignon Petit Bourgeois 2016

Basically a “baby Sancerre”, this exciting young Sauvignon Blanc is grown on the same chalky slate soils you’ll find across Sancerre from 10-40 year-old vines, fermented in stainless steel and allowed to rest 3 months on the fine lees.  The vineyard is located just outside the legal boundary of Sancerre, but the flavors make you feel right in the middle!

Generous, fresh, aromas of fresh flowers, just cut grass, white grapefruit, and a hint of wet stones burst from the glass.  Then you’ll find a tad more richness and zest to the crisp citrus and green apple fruit, tangy gooseberry, and fresh grass.  As the refreshing acidity wells up to make your mouth water, a bit of Sancerre’s trademark “gun flint” character shows underneath the juicy bright fruit.  There’s a wonderful rich/brisk, sweet/sour contrast in this wine that will delight and fascinate with every sip.  Served cold, it’s thirst quenching and refreshing.  Let it warm up a touch and it’s layered, complex, and a fantastic match for seafood, fresh vegetables, and – of course – goat cheese.

"The 2014 Larose-Trintaudon has a stylish bouquet, well defined and quite minerally with blackberry and wild strawberry scents to the fore. The palate is well balanced, clean and pure with real vibrancy and joie-de-vivre. It builds nicely in the mouth and gains more and more precision towards the sophisticated finish. Bravo -- this is a superb Haut-Médoc that will drink beautifully for the next 10 years, possibly more."Wine Advocate 91 points
