St Innocent Pinot Noir Shea Vyd 2013 Product #30479 (In Stock)
St Innocent Pinot Noir Shea Vyd 2013 St Innocent Pinot Noir Shea Vyd 2013

Generally recognized as Oregon’s “Grand Cru” vineyard, Yamhill’s Shea Vineyard always delivers a bit more power and intensity than the typical site.  St. Innocent’s wine comes from a mixture of Pommard and Dijon clones growing  on Willakenzie soils at about 400 feet elevation.  The wine is more dense and black-fruited than most of Mark Vlassok’s other wines, and is matched only by Justice for firmness of structure.  In 2013, this has lovely purity for the site and finishes long and firm.  Limited.

"Bright ruby. Sexy, smoke-tinged aromas of red and dark berry preserves, candied flowers and mocha, with a hint of sandalwood in the background. Sappy, sweet and expansive on the palate, offering concentrated blackberry, cherry-cola and rose pastille flavors that tighten up on the back half. This suave, seamless wine finishes with excellent clarity and length, its silky tannins building slowly."  Vinous (Reynolds) 92 points

"A much more expressive nose features both red and dark berry scents where added breadth is present in the form of spice, earth, briar and smoky hints. The mouth feel of the medium weight flavors is unusually sleek for the Shea vineyard with fine intensity though the classic muscularity is present on the dusty, robust and impressively lingering finish. This isn't an elegant wine but it does make a statement. Patience will definitely be required."Allen Meadows 91 points

Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2014 Product #30592 (In Stock)
Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2014 Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2014

Vaillons is always vivid, focused, and very mineral-driven, and the 2014 edition shines in that vein.  Over the past few vintages, Dauvissat’s Vaillons has shown a bit more flesh on the mid-palate, making it a fine choice to enjoy young and with age.

“Bright, pale yellow-green. Lemon, menthol and wet stone on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote. Juicy, intense and firm, delivering sharply chiseled lemon and mineral flavors. Strong acidity suggests early harvesting. Really vibrates and rises on the long, brisk aftertaste. A terrific Vaillons.”  Vinous (Tanzer) 91-93 points

“Notes of cool mineral reduction combine with restrained aromas of mostly white orchard fruit, iodine, pepper and hints of algae. The gorgeously textured middle weight flavors exhibit plenty of minerality on the tighter, more intense and chiseled finish that deliver excellent length. This beauty should drink well both young and old as there is very good mid-palate density.”Allen Meadows 90-93 points

Maynard's Port Colheita 1950 Product #30547 (In Stock)
Maynard's Port Colheita 1950 Maynard's Port Colheita 1950

Sometimes called, “The Ladies’ Vintage,” 1950 gave fresh, elegant, and very pure wines and was a “declared” vintage for many Port houses and shippers.  While there's certainly elegance here, there's also plenty of "umph" to the sweet and savory complexity of cured tobacco, orange peel, warm stone, fig, date, and dried plum aromas and flavors.  Brisk on the finish, a wine to really savor.

Maynard's Port Colheita 1934 Product #30549 (In Stock)
Maynard's Port Colheita 1934 Maynard's Port Colheita 1934

A limited treasure.

"The 1934 Colheita Port (Maynard's) is a blend of 25% Touriga Franca, 20% Tinta Roriz, 15% Tinta Amarela, 10% Tinta Barroca and 30% of traditional grape varieties (Sousão, Bastardo, Rufete, Sousão, Tinta Francisca, among others); coming in at 154 grams per liter of residual sugar. It is one of many fine 1934s I've had. It's a happy trend. This powerhouse is initially all about its power and it has quite a lot. I always recommend drinking Tawnies a bit cool, but double underline that here. Concentrated and complex, it isn't just about preening in its power, though it adds some sweetness on the finish and becomes increasingly complex and flavorful as it calms down a bit. Overall, it's rather stunning. Since the 80th birthday celebrations are over, you may as well sit it down and knock it back. It's pretty fine."Wine Advocate 96 points
