Ch Les Conseillans Reserve De Pre-Carre 2015 Product #32887 (In Stock)
Ch Les Conseillans Reserve De Pre-Carre 2015 Ch Les Conseillans Reserve De Pre-Carre 2015

A bold, rich, velvety Bordeaux made of ripe, rich, plummy, Merlot which gives the wine plenty of dark red fruit and a round, velvety, texture.  About 3% each of Malbec and Cabernets adds a touch of fresh minerality (Malbec) plush herbal/tobacco complexity and fine, firm, structure (Cabernets).  Aging in used French oak barrels adds polish and spice without overwhelming the fruit. You’ll love the bold redcurrant, black plum, and black raspberry fruit aromas and flavors and how the notes of crushed herb, tobacco and spice add complexity and depth.  And you’ll especially enjoy how the wine really envelopes your palate, feeling rich and plush and velvety from front to back. Don’t let the “drink from 2020” worry you – this is delicious and fun to drink tonight from first pop and pour!

Best Buy! This rich, ripe and generous wine is full of blackberry fruit and tannin. It's powerful, with a solid structure and fine fruitiness. As a result, it has good aging potential, so drink from 2020."Wine Enthusiast 90 points

Le Chai Duchet Vire Clesse 2015 Product #32888 (In Stock)
Le Chai Duchet Vire Clesse 2015 Le Chai Duchet Vire Clesse 2015

In just the 3rd vintage made and bottled by young Alexis Duchet, this wine already shows the very high quality of the family’s organically farmed vineyards and the character of the chalky limestone soils of the Macon’s Vire-Clesse AOC.  Alexis pulls fruit for his AOC Vire-Clesse from four sites near the village of Vire, all planted to Chardonnay vines now 60 years old or older.  Winemaking is dead simple:  gentle pressing, native yeasts, fermentation in stainless steel and then up to 12 months aging in concrete tanks.

There’s nothing simple about the wine, though.  In the warm, ripe, 2015 harvest, this shows a bit more breadth and generosity than the typical Vire-Clesse, with lovely scents and flavors of stone fruit – peach, apricot, nectarine – over chalky stone and topped with a captivating hint of fruit blossoms.  The texture is rich and round on the palate but lacks nothing in energy, minerality, and drive.  Delicious to drink on its own, for sure, but try it with shellfish, roast chicken or anything with a handful of mushrooms for a real treat!

Le Chai Duchet Vire Clesse Quintessance 2015 Product #32889 (In Stock)
Le Chai Duchet Vire Clesse Quintessance 2015 Le Chai Duchet Vire Clesse Quintessance 2015

Holy cow and zowie – this is just plain great Chardonnay!  "Quintessence" means "the most perfect or typical example of a quality or class" or "a refined essence or extract."  This is the Quintessence of Vire-Clesse.  It’s from a 4 acre plot of 80 year-old Chardonnay planted to incredible density – a whopping 4,400 vines per acre. Alexis Duchet farms this site organically with natural treatments for pests and the soil worked by horse-drawn plow.  Fermentation in stainless steal with the yeast from the vineyard and winery is followed by 10-12 months aging in concrete tank.  Natural, pure, simple.

Nothing simple about the wine, though.  The aromas and flavors are deep, complex, and satisfying with layers of ripe stone fruit, buttered pear, crushed hazelnut and salty mineral.  But structure and texture are what really excites here.  The wine enters with a prickle-point of acid, fans out to envelope and coat your palate with richness, and then snaps back into lazer-like minerally focus as fresh citrus acids bring up the rear.  And the finish goes on and on and your mouth waters gently and flavors of stone fruit, pear, apple, hazelnut and mint linger for a minute-plus.  A great wine right now that will certainly age nicely – but why wait?

Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2016 Product #32918 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2016 Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2016

Year-in, year-out, this is one of the most satisfying “village” level Chablis we carry.  The estate lost about half its fruit to frost, hail, mildew and sunburn in 2016, but the grapes that made it to the winery were first rate in deed.  Key lime, apple and more waft from the glass.  As mouthfilling and powerful as the 2015 but with a nice dose of 2014’s acidity and freshness providing extra complexity and zest. This will make a fantastic “house white” this Spring – Fall and delight on its own, with shellfish, or even with savory grilled chicken.

"Here the expressive nose is similar to that of the Petit Chablis with the addition of a pretty floral component. The slightly tighter and more energetic middle weight flavors deliver fine length on the precise, dry and balanced finale where a hint of minerality surfaces. This too should drink well young."Allen Meadows 87-89 points

"This is a well-balanced wine with crisp acidity, steely texture and delicious citrus fruits. It has a bright, lively texture and will be ready to drink from summer 2018."Wine Enthusiast 89 points
