Secret Squirrel Columbia Valley Bordeaux Blend 2014 Product #32890 (In Stock)
Secret Squirrel Columbia Valley Bordeaux Blend 2014 Secret Squirrel Columbia Valley Bordeaux Blend 2014

The Corliss family owns two premier Washington State wineries.  Corliss is located in the Red Mountain AVA and focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux varietals.  Tranche is in the Blue Mountains and does mainly Rhone blends.  The owners are VERY particular and selective of which barrels go into their flagship wines, especially at Corliss where the focus is on making very long-lived Cab blends.  Barrels that are too full of fruit, soft and supple for the big wines are blended after 14+ months in new and a little used French oak.

While Corliss won’t reveal the full “secret” of this blend, we know it’s mainly Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon plus Merlot, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec from Corliss and Tranche.  In the warm, ripe, rich 2014 vintage it’s a warm, ripe, rich wine.  Aromas of ripe blackberries and sage, with a hint of coffee invite you to take a sip. The flavors are bold, dark and rich, with powerful flavors of blackberry, black currant and dark plum accented by notes of tobacco and spice.  Despite all these dark, rich flavors, the fruit flavors are vibrant and exciting and the finish is firm enough for a steak, but not too firm to sip alone. You won’t want to keep this a secret!

Vigne Di Eli Etna Rosso Moganazzi 2013 Product #32962 (In Stock)
Vigne Di Eli Etna Rosso Moganazzi 2013 Vigne Di Eli Etna Rosso Moganazzi 2013

From Marco de Grazia's smaller estate on Mt Etna named for his daughter and generating proceeds for a hospital in Florence.  There's outstanding minerality here but also a nice openness.  Ready to drink, although no rush!

"Clean, pure aromas of red cherry, violet and tar with a bright mineral overlay. Rich, dense and juicy, offering noteworthy sweetness and size to its tactile red cherry and raspberry flavors. Finishes very long and minerally. These Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio vines were planted in the 1950s at about 650 meters, on very loose ash-rich soils."  Vinous (d'Agata) 92 points

"Slightly bolder in color and concentration (as compared to the Etna Rosso Pignatuni), the 2013 Etna Rosso Moganazzi Volta Sciara is a delightful wine with rich tones and a generous bouquet. The wine exhibits a softer, more fleshed out personality without the sharp austerity you usually get with Etna reds. In fact, the wine exhibits a mellow personality despite being shaped by one of the most violent volcanic wine territories on the planet. That juxtaposition comes as a startling, but delightful surprise. Firm lines of ash, smoke, died fruit and pressed rose fuel a long and flavorful finish."Wine Advocate 92-94 points
