Ch St Martin de la Garrigue Picpoul De Pinet 2015 Product #30926 (In Stock)
Ch St Martin de la Garrigue Picpoul De Pinet 2015 Ch St Martin de la Garrigue Picpoul De Pinet 2015

If you've only ever had mass-produced Picpoul de Pinet from a co-op winery - or if you are just craving something deliciously different in white wine refreshment - you owe it to yourself to try this.  As Andrew Jefford, British author of the landmark The New France has said, “Perhaps the best wine for me is an astonishing Picpoul de Pinet, picked very late from low-yielding vines: those who consider this an inarticulate if refreshing choice, the Muscadet of the Midi, should try this mint-and-verbena-scented, powerfully lemony wine.”

The aromas feature fresh mint and verbena scents to go with aromas of lemon pulp, green melon, and more.  Flavors of lemon peel, tangy pineapple, green apple and fresh, salty, sea breeze swirl across your tongue in a wine that coats your palate with agreeable richness and finishes salty, lemony, minty, and very fresh.  You've never had Picpoul like this before, and once you try it (especially with shrimp, oysters, or clams), you'll struggle to go back.

Butter Chardonnay California 2015 Product #30783 (In Stock)
Butter Chardonnay California 2015 Butter Chardonnay California 2015

Yes, Butter is back – and it’s just as fine as ever!  Former Rombauer winemaker Rob Lloyd and his partners a JaM wines have turned out another full-throttle, frankly oaked, and richly butter Chardonnay in the fine (if small) 2015 vintage.  As always, you’ll find big aromas of ripe pear, golden apple, spicy oak, vanilla and creamy butter.  And, the big flavors of super-ripe tropical and orchard fruits, smoke, spice, vanilla bean and still more fresh butter coat your palate with a richly textured, smooth, opulent texture.  What’s new is a touch more vibrant acidity from front to back and a newfound sense of delineation and clarity to the flavors.  More of a “baby Rombauer” than ever!

It’s a fun, butterball, of a sipper and party wine, and will be a happy partner with everything from fish to poultry and salads at table.  But, this has sold our early in each of the past 5 vintages, so now’s the time to grab a full year’s supply!

Calluna Vineyards CVC Chalk Hill 2012 Product #30682 (In Stock)
Calluna Vineyards CVC Chalk Hill 2012 Calluna Vineyards CVC Chalk Hill 2012

Classic Chalk Hill texture and depth here, from first sip through an hour in decanter or years in cellar.  A magnificent value.

"David Jeffrey’s estate, in the hills east of the Russian River Valley, tends to give a cool, taut expression of the Bordelaise grapes, thanks to maritime influence and the vineyard’s sandstone and shale-based soils. This merlot-based blend includes cabernet sauvignon, franc, petit verdot and malbec; in 2012, the wine’s flavors are vigorous and cohesive, with hints of black plum and mint, though the overall impression is primarily mineral, the refreshing glints of fruit completely tied to the structure. It evolves slowly over several days of air, barely loosening, suggesting that it will reward a long stay in the cellar."Wine & Spirits 95 points

"The 2012 Calluna Vineyards Cuvée is a blend of 36% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and the rest equal parts Petit Verdot and Malbec. More chocolate and mocha appear in this wine, which has a similar color to its predecessors. With a nice, fleshy, opulent mouthfeel, impressive purity, texture and length, the wine seems showy and expressive already and promises to age nicely for 10-15 more years."Wine Advocate 91 points

Voliero Brunello Di Montalcino 2011 Product #30551 (In Stock)
Voliero Brunello Di Montalcino 2011 Voliero Brunello Di Montalcino 2011

Voliero is Andrea Cortonese of Uccelliera fame’s second project, and was supposed to mostly be wine to serve at his restaurant in Siena. With someone this talented in charge, the wines couldn’t be anything less than outstanding, and word quickly spread. Now the wines from Cortonesi’s second label are so popular, he doesn’t have any left to serve at his restaurant! The 2011 Brunello opens with sappy, woodsy aromas, and is beautifully ripe and bold on the palate. If you’re looking for Brunello that doesn’t require years and years of aging, this is it.

"Big and juicy still with loads of ripe-fruit and meat undertones. Full body, velvety tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Powerful for the vintage. From the owners of Uccelliera. Drink now: Why wait?"  James Suckling 94 points

"Andrea Cortonesi's 2011 Brunello di Montalcino (from his second brand, Voliero) shows much of the winemaking detail and care that you find in his bread and butter brand, Uccelliera. The wine shows some signs of vintage ripeness. Bold cherry and blackberry aromas are followed by spice and toasted tobacco. This is a clean and focused Brunello that performs well on the all the senses. It offers soft tannins and bold fruit flavors. The style is youthful and approachable. The finish is exceptionally silky and smooth."Wine Advocate 92 points

Produttori Del Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano 2011 Product #30686 (In Stock)
Produttori Del Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano 2011 Produttori Del Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano 2011

Montestefano’s distinctive soils, unusually high in calcium,  make this one of the most powerful, even Barolo-like, wines from Produttori del Barbaresco.  Give it 5 years in cellar and enjoy for years and years to come.

“The 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano is one of the least expressive of these wines. Inward, powerful and explosive, the 2011 is not in a mood to show much today, that is pretty clear. Still, there is an obvious energy here that is impossible to miss. A firm spine of tannin gives the wine much of its signature power. Dark red cherry, smoke, pomegranate and scorched earth blossom on the dramatic finish. A wine of real density and gravitas, the 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano stands out for its pure, unbridled energy and overall intensity.”  Vinous (Galloni) 94 points

Produttori Del Barbaresco Riserva Paje 2011 Product #30687 (In Stock)
Produttori Del Barbaresco Riserva Paje 2011 Produttori Del Barbaresco Riserva Paje 2011

One of the coolest of the single-vineyard Crus in Barbaresco, Paje is always the most vibrand, pure, and crystal clear wines in Produttori's line-up.  If Asili is plush and Montesefano is power, then Paje is silk.  A classically-styled Barbaresco.

“One of the highlights in this range, the 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Pajè is also one of the most classic of these 2011 Riservas. Beams of underlying acidity and minerality give the flavors considerable thrust and brightness. Sweet mentholated notes wrap around a core of plush, red-fleshed plum and pomegranate fruit, leading to a brisk, refreshing finish. What is left to say? The 2011 Pajè is absolutely gorgeous. It's as simple as that. Pajè is one of the cooler micro-climates the Produttori work with, and that was a help in 2011.”  Vinous (Galloni) 95 points

Produttori Del Barbaresco Riserva Ovello 2011 Product #30833 (In Stock)
Produttori Del Barbaresco Riserva Ovello 2011 Produttori Del Barbaresco Riserva Ovello 2011

Although Ovello is cooler than some other sites, it somehow gives a fleshier, more expressive wine than they do.  You can certainly drink this right now with lamb or rare beef but it will just get more aromatic, longer, and more complex over the next 15 years.  As Galloni says, “Don’t miss it!”

"The 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello, from one of the coolest zones in Barbaresco, is superb. Here it is the wine's precision and energy - both hard to come by in 2011 - that really stand out. Pine, mint, chalk, bright red berries, blood orange and white pepper are some of the signatures in a brilliant, finely-cut Barbaresco that captures the best of both the vintage and this site. Don't miss it!"  Vinous (Galloni) 94 points

Zeitgeist Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2013 Product #30758 (In Stock)
Zeitgeist Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2013 Zeitgeist Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2013

The husband-and-wife team of Mark Porembski and Jennifer Williams crafted their 421 case 2013 Cabernet from four outstanding Napa Valley vineyards.  Anomaly in St. Helena gives richness, Farella in Coombsville freshness, Sleeping Lady in Yountville structure, and Moulds in the Oak Knoll hills grip and complexity.  This is the richest, most deeply fruited and velvety textured Zeitgeist Cabernet yet – it will fill up your mouth and coat your palate with Napa’s best! – but no loss of the balance and poise that keeps this fresh and fascinating glass after glass.  A brief decant is all it needs to delight right now, although feel free to lay this down for 15+ years if that’s your thing.

"The fresh sage, blackberry and sweet black tobacco aromas and flavors are compelling. Full body, yet shows form and tension. Fresh and delicious finish. Drink or hold."  James Suckling 94 points

"Good dark ruby. Captivating floral lift to the aromas of cassis, black cherry, licorice and graphite minerality, with complementary sweet oak nuances. Sweet, dense, supple and deep, with dark berry and spice flavors nicely framed by harmonious acidity and accented by piquant pepper and herb notes. Finishes juicy and long, with firm-edge tannins and lovely floral lift. Very well done."  Vinous (Tanzer) 92 points

"There are 421 cases of the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa from the same four sites used for the 2012. This wine is coiled tightly and displays higher tannin as well as higher extract and richness. It has an inky purple color and beautiful, dense blackberry and cassis flavors along with hints of licorice, forest floor and earth. Some background oak also makes an appearance."Wine Advocate 93+ points
