Quinta Dona Matilde Porto Colheita 2004 Product #27905 (In Stock)
Quinta Dona Matilde Porto Colheita 2004 Quinta Dona Matilde Porto Colheita 2004

The Barros family made their name in the Deuro during the 20th Century before selling the brand and focusing their energies on dry wines at Quinta Dona Matilde.  But, Filippe Barros and family aren’t quite ready to give up Port just yet, and they’ve tapped their broad range of contacts to create this brilliant 9 year-old beauty.

A lovely amber color with shimmering gold and rose highlights.  Big, lush, aromas of caramelized nuts, toffee, orange peel, and dried fruits lead to deep flavors of more toffee, toasted pecan, blood orange, dried redcurrant, and more.  Although it’s richly textured and weighty, a beam of brilliant acidity runs through the wine, giving freshness and a dry, very lightly tannic, finish.  This will thrill any fan of 10 year Tawny Port, matching that style’s freshness and fruit character and adding on more subtlety and complexity.

Brovia Barolo Garblet Sue 2009 Product #27807 (In Stock)
Brovia Barolo Garblet Sue 2009 Brovia Barolo Garblet Sue 2009

Probably the least "open" of the 2009 Brovias, but promising great things 5-7 years from now!

"Iron, tar, scorched earth, smoke and game waft from the glass as the 2009 Barolo Garblèt Sue' opens up. The ferrous notes typical of this site come through loud and clear in the 2009. At the same time, the 2009 is surprisingly soft. At times delicate and even ethereal, the 2009 appears to be heavily marked by the vintage."  Antonio Galloni 90 points

"Wild, ripe aromas of red berries, plum, truffle and game. Rich and broad but currently less shapely and delineated than the Villero, not to mention less showy. Shows a larger structure reflecting its Castiglione origin, but this is also harder to taste today. The big tannins are less fine than those of the Villero. Elena Brovia points out that this wine is made in exactly the same way as the Villero and Garblet Sue, so the differences are entirely a function of terroir."International Wine Cellar 91+? points

Brovia Barolo Rocche Dei Brovia 2009 Product #27808 (In Stock)
Brovia Barolo Rocche Dei Brovia 2009 Brovia Barolo Rocche Dei Brovia 2009

The most graceful, elegant, of the Cru wines from Brovia in 2009, but with plenty of depth, too.

"The 2009 Barolo Rocche dei Brovia wraps around the palate with layers of ripe, succulent fruit. Rich, open and expressive, the 2009 is flashy and seductive, in other words, very typical of the year. This is a fairly open, succulent vintage for the Rocche. I imagine it will drink well early and probably be likely to mature quickly as well. Dried rose petals, savory herbs and fennel add complexity on a finish distinguished by its grace."  Antonio Galloni 91 points

"High-pitched aromas of raspberry, rose petal and mint. Juicy, youthfully tight and intense; not a rich style but elegant and perfumed, with good supporting minerality. No sign of overripeness here, unlike with many other 2009 Barolos from sandy soil. Finishes with building but ripe tannins and enticing lingering aromatic character. Very refined."International Wine Cellar 92 points
