- Ch De Vaux Moselle Blanc Les Gryphees 2015 Product #31551 (In Stock)
A fresh, interesting Alsace blend of Auxerrois, Muller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer, this opens with scents of spiced pears, fresh golden delicious apples, and soft herbs. On the palate it's a good deal more tart, with granny smith apple flavors and a tang of lemon through the mid-palate. Aromatic and interesting without being cloying, this would be great with all kids of seafood.
- Ch De Vaux Les Hautes-Bassieres Pinot Noir Moselle 2014 Product #31064 (In Stock)
Moselle, along the Mosel River before it flows into Germany, was once a rival to Champagne. The Franco-Prussian war, phylloxera, and WWI and II took a heavy toll, and today this region along the border with Luxembourg is pretty obscure. But, Norbert and Marie-Geneviève Molozay recognized the region's potential (especially in an era of warming climate), and launched Ch de Vaux in 1996 to prove it.
Pour a glass of this and you’ll immediately notice a good deal more color than you’d expect from such a cool climate. The nose delivers on the promise of richness and depth with complex aromas of raspberry, dark cherry, wood smoke, and forest underbrush flowing out of the glass. On the palate, it does just what a great holiday red should. There’s more than enough ripe fruit to survive the onslaught of big dinner flavors with smoky/savory accents that will highlight stuffing and autumn vegetable sides. The tang of fresh cranberry on the finish evokes the dish of Aunt Martha’s sauce and, more importantly, refreshes your palate and gets you ready for the next forkful. Delicious, if obscure, and excellent value!
