- Hoopes Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2012 Product #31902 (In Stock)
We've been spending a lot of time lately looking for really impressive Napa Cabernet that stays under $75, and this is one of the few we've tasted that made us sit up and take notice. It's almost all Cabernet Sauvignon (about 2% Merlot) from the Hoopes estate vineyard in Oakville plus a bit of fruit from Yountville. It's a right down the middle mid-Valley Napa Cab in style, with plenty of lush fruit (black currant, dark plum, blackberry), a good dose of oak spice, and firm, lightly dusty, tannins. Great now with a one-hour decant and a thick, juicy, steak, it will really shine from 2020 onwards.
"This cellar-worthy treasure has attention-grabbing spice, leather and smoky oak aromas. Ripe fruit flavors are heavily shaded with undeniably delicious accents of cedar and chocolate. It is bold in flavor, full in body and quite tannic in texture. Hold until at least 2018; the wine should improve even more after that."Wine Enthusiast 93 points
