- Laurent Perrachon Beaujolais Blanc Terre De Loyse 2015 Product #31115 (In Stock)
Long for fine white Burgundy for under $20? You have to look a little further afield than in days of old, but it's still out there for the finding if you try long and hard enough. Here's a fine example.
Laurent Perrachon has built a reputation as one of Beaujolais best independent producers and one of the few to make reds from six different Beaujolais Crus. The reds are great, but his tiny production white Beaujolais really stole our hearts. It's 100% "Perle Blanche" (the local name for Chardonnay) grown on limestone-clay soils, harvested entirely by hand, and made in stainless steel tank.
Pretty aromas of stone fruit and apple shine with accents of crushed herb (chervil, perhaps) and a little butter. Then rich and lightly fleshy with pear, apple, peach, and buttery flavors and a dusting of crushed stone at the end. A nice briskness makes this refreshing on its own and it will certainly shine with roast chicken, seafood and more. Fine wine, fine value.
