Pol Roger Brut Reserve NV Product #6039 (In Stock)
Pol Roger Brut Reserve NV Pol Roger Brut Reserve NV

A rock-solid standard in Champagne excellence is better than ever in this year’s beautiful release.  Brut Reserve blends roughly equal parts of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay that are gently pressed and fermented and matured in tank.  This year’s release is based on vintage 2012 with at least 25% reserve wines from one or two prior vintages.  The secondary fermentation takes place in the winery’s colder-than-average cellars, slowing it down and driving the creation of especially tiny bubbles.  After 4 years on the lees, it’s riddled by hand, disgorged by hand, and given a generous dosage of 7-9 g/l.  At once refined and rich, elegant and firm, this is delicious now and will actually get better over the next 2-3 years.

"Straw yellow and with a golden hue in color, the Pol Roger NV Réserve Brut displays a brilliant, perfectly ripe but also fresh, highly elegant and refined fruit aroma on the nose; think of cooked pip fruits like pears and apples, but also quince-confiture and yellow stone fruits, such as apricots and peaches intermixed with vanilla, brioche (pain aux raisins), some nutty flavors and also some white floral notes. On the palate, this medium-bodied Brut is as round (if not pretty sweet) and fruit-driven as it is delicate, pure and very elegant. The mousse is deliciously fine and leads this charming and perfectly balanced fizz to a long, aromatic, stunningly dry and slightly mineral, impressively long finish. This is extremely well done Champagne from equal parts of Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay sourced in 30 different crus."Wine Advocate 92 points

"Rich notes of pear pastry, toasted almond, smoke and honey are well-meshed with and balanced by fresh notes of lemon peel, quince and grated ginger, all knit with the finely tuned acidity and creamy mousse."Wine Spectator 91 points

Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2006 Product #32464 (In Stock)
Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2006 Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2006

Long a benchmark for fine Vintage Champagne, Pol Roger’s 2006 blends about 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay and spends at least 8 years on the lees before release.  It’s always one of Champagne’s more powerful wines, but in 2006 had fine elegance, minerality and drive.  You can hold this for 5 years (or longer if you have a more British palate), but its’ delicious now and capable of inspiring some pretty wild reactions – see the Wine Advocate review!

"Sourced in 20 Premier and Grand Crus of the Côte de Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, the 2006 Vintage Brut is a cuvée of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay that was aged for nine years in the 33 meters deep cellar in Epernay. The deep golden-colored wine offers a deep and vinous, very clear and elegant nose of sweet cherries, stewed and baked apples, ripe stone fruits, cinnamon, chalk, brioche, sweet paprika, orangeade and dashes of lemon juice. Full-bodied, rich and round on the palate, this is a creamy textured though pure and highly elegant, firmly structured, powerful and persistent Champagne; it has a noble and rested expression, as well as a long, noble finish. This is midnight Champagne for noble jazz clubs with fine piano music, or to be matched with noble cigars."Wine Advocate 94 points

"It is the balance that stars with this wine. The fruit, acidity and mineral texture are held together in maturing harmony. Still young, the wine is still in the fruity spectrum and yet is very ready to drink now. The acidity and the link between the soft dosage and freshness are all in place."Wine Enthusiast 95 points
