- Tinto Negro Malbec Limestone Block Mendoza 2013 Product #31788 (In Stock)
Cannot recommend this savory, complex, Malbec co-fermented with 7% Cabernet Franc highly enough. "Lovely mineral pungency to the aromas of blackberry, licorice and violet. Sweet and shapely, with a welcoming creaminess of texture leavened by harmonious acidity. Broad dark berry flavors are lifted by enticing mineral and floral components. Nicely balanced, fine-grained wine with chewy, ripe tannins and excellent breadth and length. Lovely delineation and energy here, no doubt due to the presence of limestone in the soil."
"The 2013 Malbec Limestone Block is sourced from the south of the Uco Valley, in San Carlos and Altamira, selected from places where there’s a higher content of chalk, usually in the stonier soils. It is co-fermented with a small quantity of Cabernet Franc (7-8%). The wine feels serious and well-balanced, with notes of ripe red and black fruits, a fresh herbal note, a mineral feeling and a medium-bodied palate with fine-grained tannins and good balance. It should age well. Drink 2014-2020.:Wine Advocate 90 points
