Now Presenting Paso Robles Red 2014 Product #32590 (In Stock)
Now Presenting Paso Robles Red 2014 Now Presenting Paso Robles Red 2014

The classic Rhone blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre first gained New World fame in Australia.  But they do it darn well in California, too, especially in the very Rhone-like vineyards of Paso Robles.  A big, ripe, rich wine that gets an extra layer of polish and spice from French oak aging, it's a perfect cookout and party red with a just right touch of flash.

"Top 100 Values of 2017! This is quite a dynamic and layered wine, especially for the bargain price, with deep and hearty blackberry, caramel, rust, lavender and potpourri on the nose. The berry-led palate is rustic and unrefined, with feral flavors, peppery spice and decent acidity."Wine Enthusiast 90 points

Rhino Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles 2015 Product #32568 (In Stock)
Rhino Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles 2015 Rhino Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles 2015

Andrew Jones of California's Field Recordings created this bold Paso Cabernet to deliver powerful bang for the buck. Bold dark fruit - blackberry, black plum, dark raspberry - gushes from the glass with accents of mocha and savory herb.  The palate is rich, creamy, and dense with generous black fruit, cocoa powder and tobacco flavors that cover a nicely chewy finish.  Ready to drink right now with burgers, steaks, or cool evenings.

True Myth Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles 2014 True Myth Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles 2014

The 2013 edition of this ripe and fruit-filled Paso Cab earned 90 points from Wine Enthusiast and this sleek 2014 is  just as fine.  Blueberry, blackberry and red currant fruit provide a solid core while accents of gravel, spice and a touch of smoke add complexity and interest.  Luxurious and smooth on the palate, this finishes with dark chocolate, blue/black fruit, sweet spice and very fine tannins.  A great value in classic American Cabernet.

The Fableist Merlot 2015 The Fableist Merlot 2015

"Paso" and "Merlot" don't often show up together, but the combination certainly works here!  The ripe Merlot fruit and 45% new French oak give the wine a sensuous plumpness and depth and lots of dark, plummy, fruit.  10% Cabernet Sauvignon adds some red currant, herb and a touch of structure on the long, very smooth, finish.  Delicious all by itself and better still with roasted or grilled beef tenderloin!

Ledge James Berry Vynd Syrah 2014 Product #32422 (In Stock)

Amazing elegance and purity in a wine with lovely California fruit and lots of Cote Rotie style.

"An explosively perfumed, complex bouquet displays intense boysenberry, cherry liqueur, licorice, allspice and sandalwood scents, while a smoky mineral topnote gains strength with air. Completely stains the palate with sweet black and blue fruit, spicecake and candied lavender flavors that show impressive litheness for their heft. Smooth, slow-building tannins shape the finish, which hangs on with outstanding, floral-driven persistence."  Vinous (Raynolds) 94 points

"An upcoming estate I've been raving about for a few years now, Ledge is run by Mark Adams and he pulls fruit from his Estate Adams Ranch vineyard, as well as a number of other notable sites, including James Berry, and recently, G2 vineyard. Mark likes plenty of whole cluster, and isn't afraid of a touch of funk either. His wines always show lots of character and are highly recommended. Tasted at my office in Colorado and followed for multiple days. As from barrel, it's a dead ringer for a classic Cote Rotie and offers notes of black raspberries, cassis, olives, hints of bacon fat, liquid violets and pepper. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, elegant and silky, it has beautiful purity of fruit, fine tannin and a great finish, all suggesting it will evolve nicely for 10-12 years."Wine Advocate 95 points

Herman Story Nuts & Bolts Syrah 2014 Product #32502 (In Stock)

Bold, rich and deep this gets close to the "over the top" line but stays on the right side of delicious.  The bottle empties frighteningly quickly...

"One of my favorite estates in the Central Coast is Russell From's Herman Story, who makes unapologetic rich, layered, flavor loaded wines that are a joy to drink. A year in, year out killer wine, the 2014 Syrah Nuts and Bolts is another stunner that gives up ripe, full throttle notes of blackberries, peppered meats, game and singed leather. Big, rich, gorgeously textured and hedonistic, yet also balanced, pure and fresh, it's a quintessential Paso Robles red that delivers the goods. Drink it anytime over the coming 5-8 years."Wine Advocate 94 points

Tablas Creek Vineyard Esprit De Tablas 2013 Product #31352 (In Stock)
Tablas Creek Vineyard Esprit De Tablas 2013 Tablas Creek Vineyard Esprit De Tablas 2013

Created as "Esprit de Beaucastel," this is about as close to great CdP as American reds can get.  Powerful and intense right now, this will open and expand and just get better and better over the next 15 years.

"The backbone of the estate is their Esprit de Tablas, and the 2013 Esprit de Tablas is a fresh, focused, ruby colored effort that offers plenty of black cherry, blackberry, ground herbs and pepper in a medium-bodied, yet big boned, firm and nicely concentrated package. Made from 40% Mourvedre, 28% Syrah, 22% Grenache and 10% Counoise, aged in foudre, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age to fill out, and will drink well over the following decade."Wine Advocate 91 points

"Dried red cherries, dark strawberry, mulberry, light baking spice and freshly cracked pepper show on the nose of this balanced bottling of 40% Mourvèdre, 28% Syrah, 22% Grenache and 10% Counoise. The sip starts with a dusty character, and then lovely flavors of light purple fruit, lavender powder and intriguing florality ensue. It drinks great now, but will age marvelously. Enjoy from 2018–2033."Wine Enthusiast 93 points
