Cantele Salice Salentino Riserva 2014 Product #32686 (In Stock)
Cantele Salice Salentino Riserva 2014 Cantele Salice Salentino Riserva 2014

Another great vintage for this long-time Italian value!

"The 2014 Salice Salentino Riserva is a heavy and concentrated wine with prune, raisin and blackberry jelly. The wine is hearty and dense with sweet flavors on the finish that are interwoven tightly with equally savory characteristics. Despite those big bones, this wine from Cantele ultimately offers good balance and a very clean and correct drinking style. It a great value, too."Wine Advocate 89 points

Cosimo Taurino Salice Salentino Rosso Riserva 2010 Cosimo Taurino Salice Salentino Rosso Riserva 2010

A Southern Italian classic here at a ready to drink age and with style and flavor to burn.  Cosimo Taurino helped put the deep south Salice Salentino DOC on the map, and he still makes one of the finest examples today.  A blend of about 85% Negromaro and 15% Malvasia Nera, the just released 2010 vintage is loaded with generous dark plum and dried cherry fruit and captivating accents of chocolate, menthol and crushed violets.  Finishes juicy and mouthwatering with plenty of gushing fruit flavor lingering.  Top notch stuff!

Capolino Perlingieri Falanghina Preta 2016 Product #32970 (In Stock)
Capolino Perlingieri Falanghina Preta 2016 Capolino Perlingieri Falanghina Preta 2016

Last year's  92 point review from Vinous still applies here: "White pepper and minty herbs complicate apple and pear aromas. Clean, fresh and juicy, with sneaky concentration to the fresh orchard fruit and aromatic herb flavors. Remarkable Falanghina del Sannio, not exactly the first name I think of when looking for a concentrated, complex Italian white, but this outstanding wine has a lot more stuffing than is common in this category."  A delicious, complex, and really fun Italian white for shellfish and seafood.

d'Angelo Aglianico del Vulture 2013 Product #31684 (In Stock)
d'Angelo Aglianico del Vulture 2013 d'Angelo Aglianico del Vulture 2013

Meet your new favorite grilling red (although it will become your favorite roasting red when the weather cools off this Fall).  From the leading estate in Basilicata, this is a textbook example of Aglianico del Vulture that’s picked late and aged 20 months in large, old, oak casks.  It’s loaded with dark red raspberry and blueberry fruit with captivating accents of fresh leather, herb and earthy tar.  As always with Aglianico, there's plenty of acidity and tannin, but both are well integrated and the tannins are powdery and supple.  A great match for sausages or lamb with olives or roasted peppers!

"Deep ruby-red. Fresh fruity aromas and flavors of blueberry, candied violet and tar have a bright, focused quality. Long and juicy on the smooth finish, which features repeating violet nuances. Lovely Aglianico that is ready to drink now but can age."  Vinous 91 points

"Smart Buy! Ripe black raspberry and mulberry fruit is set in the balanced, medium-bodied frame of this fresh red, with savory accents of smoke, spice, wild herb and forest floor lingering on the firm finish. Drink now through 2023."Wine Spectator 90 points

Cosimo Taurino Notarpanaro Salento 2010 Product #33112 (In Stock)
Cosimo Taurino Notarpanaro Salento 2010 Cosimo Taurino Notarpanaro Salento 2010

With this wine, Taurino bolsters Negromaro's richness and tary depth with a jolt of juicy, perfumed, Malvasia Nero and a bit of time in barrel. and a shot of oak spice.  The result is a ripe, plusy, voluptous wine with plenty of deep black, spiced fruit.  A bit of white balsamic and fresh and dried cherry comes up on the end for lift, making this as much fun to sip while the grill is warming as it is to drink when the lamb, sausages or mushrooms hit the table.

d'Angelo Serra Delle Querce 2013 Product #31968 (In Stock)
d'Angelo Serra Delle Querce 2013 d'Angelo Serra Delle Querce 2013

With a nod to "Super-Tuscan" wines, we might call this a "Super-Basilicata" red - if anyone knew where that is!  At the top of the arch of Italy's boot, this blends the region's best red grape, Aglianico, with 50% Merlot shows the benefit of aging in French oak.  Sexy and round with dark, rich, black fruit framed by notes of coffee, smoke, chocolate and spice. The sweet currant and raspberry fruit gets a lift from juicy Italian acids and flows on through the supple, smooth, finish.

Terredora Di Paolo Fiano Di Avellino 2016 Product #32942 (In Stock)
Terredora Di Paolo Fiano Di Avellino 2016 Terredora Di Paolo Fiano Di Avellino 2016

Terredora’s “basic” wine is a benchmark for classically styled Fiano, with loads of tropical fruit and a rich, full-bodied, texture balanced by mouthwatering acidity and laser-like focus.  Grapes harvested in the first 10 days of October ferment and age in steel including a few months on the lees.  The aromas and flavors are captivating if hard to describe:  flowers, pear, apricot, citrus, acacia, herb honey and toasted hazelnut notes weave in and out.  Brilliant stuff!

"This is extremely minerally with lots of lemon rind and spiced apple character and some green payaya. Full body, plenty of flavor and an intense finish. Fantastic Fiano this year. "  James Suckling 93 points
