Falesco Vitiano Rosso Umbria 2014 Product #32395 (In Stock)
Falesco Vitiano Rosso Umbria 2014 Falesco Vitiano Rosso Umbria 2014

An Italian blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese that would be a $20 "super-Tuscan" - if only it didn't come from neighboring Umbria!  This is rich and round with dark cherry and red currant fruit, moderate acidity and nicely chewy tannins.  Turns spicier and smoother with air, making this a great choice for everything from cookouts to spaghetti dinners to cool weather parties.

"A soft and velvety texture red with orange peel, chocolate and plum aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, fresh acidity and a flavorful finish. Subtle at the same time. This is always one of Italy's excellent value reds."  James Suckling 91 points

Colsanto Ruris Umbria 2013 Product #30794 (In Stock)
Colsanto Ruris Umbria 2013 Colsanto Ruris Umbria 2013

Here's our single best-selling Italian wine of the past five years - a fantastic value that tastes like it costs twice as much as it does. The wine is mainly (70%) Sangiovese and delivers plenty of that variety's juicy black cherry fruit. But, the 20% Merlot in the blend rounds out the mid-palate and keeps the wine soft while the secret ingredient -- 10% Sagrantino -- adds spice and complexity uncommon in Umbrian wines. Sure, it goes well with pizza and robust pasta sauces, but there's enough going on to handle game and hard, salty, cheeses and a soft enough finish just to drink at a party. Fantastic value.

Argillae Grechetto Umbria 2016 Product #32544 (In Stock)
Argillae Grechetto Umbria 2016 Argillae Grechetto Umbria 2016

Grechetto is best known as a (all too small) part of Umbria's Orvieto, but it's so delicious that it's well worth showcasing on its own!  This is 100% Grechetto done in tank and it really bursts with fresh, vibrant, aromas of stone fruit with subtle almond accents.  On the palate it's full of stone fruit and passion fruit flavors with a sophisticated texture and crisp, lemon/peach and mineral finish. Sure it's fun to sip and will shine with all kinds of seafood, but try it with turkey, grilled veggies and - especially - linguini with clam sauce!

Colpetrone Montefalco Rosso 2011 Product #32562 (In Stock)
Colpetrone Montefalco Rosso 2011 Colpetrone Montefalco Rosso 2011

Montefalco Rosso is more or less Umbria's answer to Chianti - a blend of mostly local grapes that delivers robust flavors and a food-friendly structure for beef, pork and cured meats.  This is 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and 15% Merlot, all from the super-ripe 2011 vintage.  Aging 12 months in used French oak smooths out some edges here but doesn't hide the dark cherry and raspberry fruit.  A bit of spice and vanilla adds interest and the chewy tannins offers perfect support!

Pure and powerful Sagrantino that takes on amazing cherry fruit with air and finishes dusty, not hard. Love how the purity and freshness complement the power

"A savory red, with smoke and cured tobacco notes wafting through the black olive, ground anise and dried cherry flavors. Full-bodied and balanced. A fresh, minerally edge accents the grippy finish. Best from 2019 through 2027."Wine Spectator 90 points

Perticaia Sagrantino Di Montefalco 2011 Perticaia Sagrantino Di Montefalco 2011

A big, powerful, wine to enjoy now with rich foods or cellar for years.

"Dark ruby. Herbs and flint dominate red fruit and cocoa aromas and flavors. Mountingly tough tannins are buffered by ripe acidity and fleshy sweet red fruit flavors on the long, refined finish. This big but balanced wine has a decade of cellaring potential."  Vinous (D'Agata) 91+ points
