Ch La Roche St. Jean Bordeaux Rouge 2015 Product #31344 (In Stock)
Ch La Roche St. Jean Bordeaux Rouge 2015 Ch La Roche St. Jean Bordeaux Rouge 2015

We’ve been fans of this small (for Bordeaux) family estate for years but the 2015 steps up the quality to an entirely new level! It’s a blend of un-oaked Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) from the sand, clay and limestone soils of Bordeaux’s Entre Deux Mers region – part of the “Right Bank” that excelled in the outstanding 2015 vintage.

You'll find it deliciously fresh and fun from the first pour and sip, but the real fun comes over the next few hours (or days), as the aromas and flavors get deeper and darker, with black currant, cedar, and dark chocolate holding center stage and classic Bordeaux notes of cedar, tobacco and crushed herb emerging on top.  The texture stays wonderful throughout - mouthfilling and dense enough to demand attention but never heavy or thick or plodding.  And the finish just keeps getting better and better, smooth and long with lingering flavors of fruit, cedar, chocolate and spice.  Hard to resist right this second, but do yourself a favor and lay some down and then pull a bottle out for a special dinner up to 10 years from now.  No one will ever believe what you paid!

Ch Les Conseillans Reserve De Pre-Carre 2015 Product #32887 (In Stock)
Ch Les Conseillans Reserve De Pre-Carre 2015 Ch Les Conseillans Reserve De Pre-Carre 2015

A bold, rich, velvety Bordeaux made of ripe, rich, plummy, Merlot which gives the wine plenty of dark red fruit and a round, velvety, texture.  About 3% each of Malbec and Cabernets adds a touch of fresh minerality (Malbec) plush herbal/tobacco complexity and fine, firm, structure (Cabernets).  Aging in used French oak barrels adds polish and spice without overwhelming the fruit. You’ll love the bold redcurrant, black plum, and black raspberry fruit aromas and flavors and how the notes of crushed herb, tobacco and spice add complexity and depth.  And you’ll especially enjoy how the wine really envelopes your palate, feeling rich and plush and velvety from front to back. Don’t let the “drink from 2020” worry you – this is delicious and fun to drink tonight from first pop and pour!

Best Buy! This rich, ripe and generous wine is full of blackberry fruit and tannin. It's powerful, with a solid structure and fine fruitiness. As a result, it has good aging potential, so drink from 2020."Wine Enthusiast 90 points

Ch Laussac Cotes De Castillon 2015 Ch Laussac Cotes De Castillon 2015

The Robins family owns better known Ch Roi Valentin in St. Emilion and Clos Taillefer in Pomerol but make their home here in more humble Cotes de Castillon. As at their other Right Bank properties, here they farm organically and lavish the Merlot/Cabernet Franc blend with 60% new oak, 30% one-year barrels, with 10% held in tank for freshness. A stellar value in rich and balanced 2015 red Bordeaux!

"A tangy and minerally young red with dark berry character. Full and chewy. Yet polished and focused."  James Suckling 91-92 points

"The 2015 Laussac has a detailed, quite complex bouquet with lifted blackberry and cedar aromas, very expressive and welcoming. The palate is clean and fresh, very well balanced with grainy tannin, pure black and red fruit, and is beautifully poised with an elegant finish that is an absolute delight. Expect this to land at the top of my banded score - absolutely superb." Wine Advocate 91-93 points

Cinnabar Mercury Rising 2014 Cinnabar Mercury Rising 2014

While this is technically a "Bordeaux blend" - meaning Cab, Merlot, etc. - you'll do better considering it a true "red blend."  Fruit from cool Alexander Valley give it freshness while grapes from hot Lodi, Dry Creek Valley and Paso Robles add plenty of heft.  Bold blackberry, cassis, oak spice and cedar aromas really pop on the rich, dense, palate and keep on pumping through a firm, powerful, finish. Bold red for a brisket, ribs, or burgers.

Ch Senejac Haut Medoc 2014 Product #32251 (In Stock)
Ch Senejac Haut Medoc 2014 Ch Senejac Haut Medoc 2014

Outstanding vintage, outstanding small producer. Decant or cellar 10 years.

"The 2014 Senejac has a withdrawn but well defined bouquet with more undergrowth aromas than many of its peers, unreservedly classic in style (and there is nothing wrong with that). The palate is medium-bodied with a ripe blackberry and boysenberry on the entry, a slight tinniness on the back palate with a very tightly wound finish."Wine Advocate 90 points

"This is a structured wine that has both firm tannins and ripe black plum fruits. It is concentrated and serious, the wood aging and the fruit tannins giving a lift and richness to the spicy fruit. The estate, dating to the 17th century, has 96 acres."Wine Enthusiast 91 points

Secret Squirrel Columbia Valley Bordeaux Blend 2014 Product #32890 (In Stock)
Secret Squirrel Columbia Valley Bordeaux Blend 2014 Secret Squirrel Columbia Valley Bordeaux Blend 2014

The Corliss family owns two premier Washington State wineries.  Corliss is located in the Red Mountain AVA and focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux varietals.  Tranche is in the Blue Mountains and does mainly Rhone blends.  The owners are VERY particular and selective of which barrels go into their flagship wines, especially at Corliss where the focus is on making very long-lived Cab blends.  Barrels that are too full of fruit, soft and supple for the big wines are blended after 14+ months in new and a little used French oak.

While Corliss won’t reveal the full “secret” of this blend, we know it’s mainly Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon plus Merlot, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec from Corliss and Tranche.  In the warm, ripe, rich 2014 vintage it’s a warm, ripe, rich wine.  Aromas of ripe blackberries and sage, with a hint of coffee invite you to take a sip. The flavors are bold, dark and rich, with powerful flavors of blackberry, black currant and dark plum accented by notes of tobacco and spice.  Despite all these dark, rich flavors, the fruit flavors are vibrant and exciting and the finish is firm enough for a steak, but not too firm to sip alone. You won’t want to keep this a secret!

Hubert de Bouard, owner of Ch Angelus, runs this Margaux-based estate and makes this blend of of equal parts Cab and Merlot. In the outstanding 2014 vintage, it shows a pretty, almost Margaux-like, perfume of currant, herb, and spice and delivers plenty of bold dark fruit and spice flavors.  Decant now or hold a few years (through 2024).

"The 2014 Cambon La Pelouse has turned out beautifully. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, tobacco, spice, bittersweet chocolate and leather give the 2014 its opulent, seamless feel. This is a gorgeous everyday wine from Cambon La Pelouse and consulting winemaker Hubert de Boüard. Tasted two times."  Vinous (Galloni) 90 points

"This is a tight and firm wine that will take some time to develop. The fruit, an almost equal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, is all present and will fill out over the next few years. It is a serious dense wine with great aging potential. Drink from 2021."Wine Enthusiast 92 points

"A blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, 18% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot that matured in new French oak barriques for one year. A terrific value in 2010 Bordeaux from 35 year-old vines growing on classic Bordeaux gravel soils just outside Pauillac and St. Julien. Aged in tank (15%) and oak (85%) including about 50% new French oak.  The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon (for structure and power), 45% Merlot (for body and fruit) and 5% Petit Verdot (color, perfume), all from sustainably farmed 35 year-old vines.

"A wine with sweet strawberries and raspberries on the nose. Full body, with ultra-fine tannins and a delicious finish. This is balanced and savory for the vintage. And it's an environmentally sustainable winery. Better after 2016."  James Suckling 92 points

"Sports bold, modern toast, with overt anise and blueberry notes leading the way, backed by racy plum and raspberry fruit. The solid finish shows the vintage's telltale graphite spine, offering lively acidity for balance. Best from 2014 through 2020."Wine Spectator 90 points

Clos Floridene Graves 2015 Product #32756 (In Stock)
Clos Floridene Graves 2015 Clos Floridene Graves 2015

A young estate founded in 1982 by Denis and Flourence Dubourdieu's purchase of an old cellar and 3.5 acres of fallow land in the heart of Graves.  Dubourdieu's reputation was made on white wines - and he makes a fine one here - but his experience consulting with Cheval Blanc is testament to his red wine skills, too.  This fine young Graves is about 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot and shows classic Graves minerality and spice.  Drink 2018-2028.

"The 2015 Clos Floridene offers up luscious redcurrant, wild strawberry and floral scents on the nose, almost Burgundy-like in terms of purity. The palate is well balanced with fine but firm tannin, a little pinched at the moment, but by the time of bottling it will have undone its top-shirt button. Plenty of energy here, a Graves with a nod to Volnay, bound to offer 8-10 years of pleasure."Wine Advocate 90-92 points

Another winner from Denis Durantou of L'Eglise Clinet in Pomerol, this time from the section of the region called Saint Etienne de Lisse, home also to (much  more expensive) Valandraud and Ch Fleur Cardinale.  It's 100% Merlot aged in 30% new French oak with plenty of fruit and a plush, rich, texture.  This is excellent value.  Drink 2018-2030.

“The 2015 Saintayme is pure Merlot picked between 29 September and 9 October, cropped at 45 hl/ha and raised in 30% new oak. It has a gorgeous bouquet with blackberry and cranberry fruit, a touch of vanilla emanating from the new oak that is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with good depth, a "solid" Saintayme, a pleasant chewiness with a feisty dark berry, licorice-tinged finish. This comes recommended.”Wine Advocate 90-92 points
