Errazuriz Cabernet Sauvignon Max Reserva 2015 Product #32250 (In Stock)
Errazuriz Cabernet Sauvignon Max Reserva 2015 Errazuriz Cabernet Sauvignon Max Reserva 2015

Real, ripe, lush Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 25% new French oak and loaded with fruit, smoke, herb and spice.  As WA says, it's "a steal."

"Beautiful aromas of blueberries and currants with a hint of stone and concrete. Medium to full body, firm and lightly chew tannins with a dusty texture. Hints of chocolate and hazelnut nut. A cab that gives you pleasure and interest. Drink or hold."  James Suckling 92 points

"The 2015 Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from their estate vineyards in the interior of the Aconcagua Valley, cropped from an early, warm and dry year. The wine matured in French oak barrels, 25% of them new, for 12 months before bottling. The wine is impeccable, with a nice Cabernet structure, and in fact it feels like a much more expensive wine. It has a slightly commercial profile, but it's less sweet and has a lot less oak than before. The price is a steal. The palate is vivacious and has a very good finish and a notable absence of menthol or eucalyptus, very clean and with focused fruit."Wine Advocate 92 points

It just keeps getting harder to find a terrific California Cabernet for under $25, but the folks at Twenty Bench seem to have figured this out.  From a vintage that joins 2012, 2013 and 2014 as outstanding Cab harvests in California's North Coast, this is about 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with accents of Merlot for breadth and Malbec for freshness and snap.  Give it a swirl and you'll be greeted by bold aromas of nutmeg, toasted oak, black currant and black plum.  Take a sip and you'll love how this fills your mouth with bold flavors of baked blackberry, currant, sweet spice and generous chocolaty richness.  The chocolate and black fruit hold center stage on the smooth, easygoing, finish.  Rich, delicious, great value.

Martin Ray Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Napa 2014 Product #32543 (In Stock)
Martin Ray Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Napa 2014 Martin Ray Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Napa 2014

Think about what you’re hoping to get from $50 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.  Bold aromas of blackcurrant, crushed blackberry, chocolate, and spice for sure.  Oodles of dark berry and currant fruit with bold accents of sweet spice, dark chocolate, and a bit of creamy mocha – that sounds good.  And a plush, velvety, texture that feel luxurious and rich and finishes smooth, lush and long with the tannins nicely cloaked in lingering black fruit and spice seals the deal.  You’ll find all that here in a wine that’s ready to drink right now with beef and lamb and will actually get better still over the next 5+ years.

It’s 100% Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, with most of the fruit coming from the red-hot Oak Knoll district in the southern part of Napa.  Cooling breezes from the bay helped moderate 2014’s warmth and lengthen hang time for the small, intense, berries.  A slow, two-week, fermentation with manual punch-downs followed by 15 months in 50% new French oak mellowed the powerful extraction and added lovely notes of spice and herb.  And somehow sliding in under the critics’ tasting agendas helps us keep the price of what really should be a $50 bottle to very user-friendly levels.  A delicious, extremely high-value, Napa Cab.

Proof that Paso Cab is on the rise, with deep, dark, fruit and a smooth, fleshy, finish.

"(60% new French oak): Bright violet color. Ripe dark berry and floral aromas pick up subtle tobacco and pungent floral and herb nuances as the wine stretches out. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering appealingly sweet blackberry and bitter cherry flavors that put on weight on the back half. Youthfully tannic on the sharply focused, persistent finish, which features lingering suggestions of candied rose and mocha."  Vinous (Raynolds) 91-92 points

"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals a nose of crème de cassis, plum preserves, cigar boxes, and garrique with dried herbs and sandalwood in the undercurrent. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers tons of ripe black fruits, licorice and dried herbs with a chewy frame and good balance."Wine Advocate 89 points

Union Sacre Cabernet Sauvignon Le Confident 2016 Product #32833 (In Stock)
Union Sacre Cabernet Sauvignon Le Confident 2016 Union Sacre Cabernet Sauvignon Le Confident 2016

The bottom-line here is simple:  buy this glorious California Cabernet while you can at these crazy low prices.  Because this winery and wine are going to pop up on critics’ radar soon enough, and then you’ll struggle to find (and possibly afford) it.  Union Sacre is a fairly new venture of Michigan-born Philip Muzzy and France’s Xavier Arnaudin.  What’s most exciting about this project is how Philip and Xavier don’t try to do too much (well, the labels are extravagant, but they work).

This is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a great 2016 harvest in Santa Barbara’s Happy Canyon AVA.  It delivers genuinely soaring aromas of classic Cabernet fresh black currant, crushed raspberry, sweet spice, and dusty dried herb.  It’s richly textured in the mouth and fully ripe, but remains phenomenally pure, silky and elegant.  Bold flavors of crushed black berries, cassis, spice, tobacco and cedar get an exotic lift of burnt orange peel, filling your mouth through the middle and continuing to pump out and linger over a long, silky  smooth, finish.  Delicious and easy to drink tonight, Le Confident will just get better over the next 5-10 years.  By which time fame and market forces will have caught up with this exciting new winery and prices will be much, much, higher.

Quilt Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2015 Product #32552 (In Stock)
Quilt Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2015 Quilt Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2015

Joe Wagner calls this Quilt because it’s made from a patchwork of vineyards across Napa Valley’s best Cabernet Sauvignon regions:   Oakville, St. Helena, Atlas Peak, Coombsville, Calistoga and Howell Mountain. There’s no mistaking the Caymus and Belle Glos heritage in the wine’s rich fruit, mouthfilling size and plush velvet texture.  Twenty months in barrel (70% new) adds generous does of sweet spice, cocoa and vanilla aromas and flavors and softens Cabernet Sauvignon’s sometimes astringent tannins.

Here’s Joe's tasting note:  “Quilt Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 is a seamless blend of cassis, hazelnut, cocoa, blackberry preserves and charred meat with complex notes of dark licorice, stewed rhubarb, strawberry, spice and vanillin. Rich and satisfying on the palate with decadent chocolate brownie, yogurt, and molasses flavors in perfect balance with higher-toned fruit emphasis.”  We’d add that the wine’s length and balance are especially impressive, and you’ll love drinking this with grilled/roasted meats or all by itself.

Charles Smith's (K Vintners) new label for Bordeaux varietals launches with a bang in this bold, rich, muscular Cabernet from outside Walla Walla. Open now or hold for years.

"The new 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Powerline is a new cuvee based around a vineyard in the southern part of Walla Walla. Harvested from tiny yields and aged in mostly neutral barrels, this full-bodied, luxuriously textured, seamless beauty gives up lots of classic Cabernet notes of creme de cassis, licorice, toasted spice and graphite. Union Sacre La Passion Du Diable Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 Product #32988 (In Stock)
Union Sacre La Passion Du Diable Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 Union Sacre La Passion Du Diable Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

If you love serious, concentrated, deeply textured and powerfully structured Napa Cabernet Sauvignon - then wander on down to the Canyon and get Happy!  Winemaker Xavier Xavier Arnaudin crafts seven barrels (165 cases) of this powerful, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Star Lane vineyard in Santa Barbara's Happy Canyon.  Grown at nearly 2,000 feet elevation, the vines benefit from plenty of sunshine and warm mornings for ripeness and then rapidly cooling breezes from the Pacific Ocean every afternoon.  Aging in 100% new French oak gives the wine shape and spice, but the fruit just will not be covered in wood.

Classic Napa-like aromas of black currant, blackberry, sweet spice, crushed herb and dark chocolate pump out of the glass from first pour and get deeper and richer with air.  On the palate, the wine is focused, concentrated, and muscular with intense black fruit (currant, plum, berry) dusted with cocoa powder and complicated by a layer of spice.  It's a big wine, but stays amazingly fresh through the long, firmly tannic, ripe fruit and dark chocolate finish.  Amazingly, this has no acid added in the winery - this unique site and careful winemaking delivers fantastic freshness to go with full-bodied power.  Delicious now, better from 2020 and great through 2030 or so.
