- Telmo Rodriguez Gaba Do Xil Godello 2015 Product #31627 (In Stock)
One of Spain's best winemakers has turned out a stellar example of one of the country's most unique grapes: Godello. One of Spain's best winemakers has turned out a stellar example of one of the country's most unique grapes: Godello. This is from very old vine vineyards, so while it's mainly Godello, there are probably other grapes mixed in as well. The steeply sloped granite soils allows this rich and deep wine to maintain freshness even in the warm 2015 harvest.
"Aromatic nose of green and yellow apples, apple skin and some ethereal cream notes. Full body, a round and silky texture and bright acidity." James Suckling 93 points
- Guimaro Ribeira Sacra Amandi Godello Joven 2014 Product #31255 (In Stock)
Perhaps the most exciting region in Spain right now, the steeply terraced slopes of Galicia's Ribeira Sacra have more in common with Germany's Mosel than anything else. Here Pedro Rodriguez takes 50-70 year-old vine Godello, crushes it by foot in tank, and leaves it alone to ferment wild and rest on its lees for 6 months. The result is an exciting wine that starts very dry and waxy then fills your mouth with richness as peach and lemon fruit comes up. An iodine note and the driving finish make this a brilliant match for shellfish.
