French Libation Rose Pamplemousse NV Product #31029 (In Stock)
French Libation Rose Pamplemousse NV French Libation Rose Pamplemousse NV

For years on hot summer days in France's deep south, locals built a refreshing pre-dinner drink from local rosé wine lightened up with a big squeeze of grapefruit juice.  Served on ice with or without a spash of soda, Rosé Pamplemousse (French for grapefruit) was a local favorite to enjoy with family and friends.

Over the past few years, pre-prepared Pamplemousse rosé has swept France as a delicious, fun, low-alcohol, treat to be enjoyed anywhere, anytime.  Now you can get in on the fun, too!  Our Rose Pamplemousse starts with cheerful dry pink wine from southern France, leavened with a touch of spritz and all natural grapefruit and peach flavors.  Unlike most examples, there's no added sugar or syrup here, so the big, ripe, rosé and grapefruit flavors finish dry, crisp, and clean.  Drink cold from the refrigerator, on ice, and with or without a pour of sparkling water or Prosecco for a fun and delicious warm weather pick-me-up.

J. Mourat Chenin - Chardonnay Val De Loire 2015 Product #30660 (In Stock)
J. Mourat Chenin - Chardonnay Val De Loire 2015 J. Mourat Chenin - Chardonnay Val De Loire 2015

A rich but vibrant white made from the Loire Valley’s most important white grape – the Chenin Blanc made famous by Vouvray – and Burgundy’s Chardonnay grape, which has thrived in warmer spots here for years.  The vineyards are in the Fiefs Vendeens AOC, just a few miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean.  The balance of warm Maritime sunshine and brisk Atlantic breezes allow the grapes to ripen fully while retaining plenty of summer refreshment value and cut.

Delivers a wild blend of citrus (white grapefruit and lemon rind) aromas with accents of tree fruits like apples and peaches. On the palate it’s wonderfully fresh and bright from first to last, with notes of peach, apricot and apple lingering under zesty lime juice acidity.  A joyful wine of great distinction to simply sip or pair with summer salads and seafood.

Dolin Vermouth De Chambery Dry 375ml Product #27794 (In Stock)
Dolin Vermouth De Chambery Dry 375ml Dolin Vermouth De Chambery Dry 375ml

Dolin Vermouth's are pretty much the same today as they were when first introduced in 1821.  Made from white wines and fresh and dried herbs and botanicals from Chambery, they are all complex, fresh, and just as delicious on their own as they are in a complex cocktail.

The dry style vermouth shows a pure, almost sweet-smelling, nose of white wine, herbs and wormwood.  In the mouth it's pure, herbal, and very clean with just enough body and ripe fruit to impart roundness.  Finishes clean, complex, and fresh with no bitterness.  This would be a fine match with fresh pesto!

Bedouet Clos Des Grands Primos Muscadet Sevre Et Maine 2015 Product #30753 (In Stock)
Bedouet Clos Des Grands Primos Muscadet Sevre Et Maine 2015 Bedouet Clos Des Grands Primos Muscadet Sevre Et Maine 2015

Having converted his Clos des Grand Primos vineyard to certified organic farming, Michel Bedouet is delivering on Muscadet’s potential.  The vineyard is a rocky mess of granite, schist and gneiss - no fun to farm, but wonderful for Muscadet's Melon de Bourgogne grape.  The 2015 delivers all the saline minerality and chiseled cut you'd expect from fine Muscade, but also a generous roundness to the texture and a plenty of ripe apple and tangy lemon-lime fruit. You’ll taste the benefits of extended aging on the lees – spent yeast cells left after fermentation – in the wine’s wet stone and chalk minerality, but love how the fresh fruit holds center stage and pumps on through a long finish of lemon, apple, lime zest and fresh thyme.  Sure, it’s a great wine for shellfish, but you’ll love it with almost any summertime dish or simply all on its own.

From the estate often called the "Lafite of the Languedoc" comes this zesty, rich, blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Grenache Blanc made all in tank. There's a strong Earl Grey note to the floral and stone fruit aromas, and the bergamot carries on through the rich and complex flavors of citrus, peach, and tea.  Dry and dusty on the finish, the wine keeps changing and fascinating from first sip to last.

A very old-school sparkler, made by bottling the young wine while it's still fermenting.  It's a blend of 75% Muscat and 25% Clairette that fizzes with fine, pinpoint, bubbles and shows off aromas and flavors of peach, orange, white grapefruit, and fresh flowers.  Low in alcohol, lightly off-dry and crisp and clean at the end, it's perfect choice for brunch - sort of like a Mimosa with a touch of grapefruit juice!

A classy alternative to Cava or Prosecco - or even Champagne! - this blends Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay and adds fizz via an in-bottle second fermentation (like Champagne).  The aromas and flavors are classic:  Yellow and orange citrus, warm toast, and a hint of rich yeast.  It's more elegant and has better bubbles than Prosecco and is more rich, creamy, and traditional in flavor than Cava. Very satisfying and excellent value.

A fresh, interesting Alsace blend of Auxerrois, Muller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer, this opens with scents of spiced pears, fresh golden delicious apples, and soft herbs. On the palate it's a good deal more tart, with granny smith apple flavors and a tang of lemon through the mid-palate. Want to taste what a talented young winemaker can do with 50 year-old Melon de Bourgogne on the stony soils of Muscadet, not far from the Atlantic Ocean in western France?  Well, you should!  Because this is about as delicious as Muscadet gets.  Vibrand aromas of stone and citrus fruit with something salty in the back lead to a big mouthfull of tangy fruit, salty stone, and the richness that comes with 8 months on the fine lees stirred every day.  For shellfish, of course, but also just to drink.

L. Aubry Fils Brut 1er Cru Nv Product #28947 (In Stock)
L. Aubry Fils Brut 1er Cru Nv L. Aubry Fils Brut 1er Cru Nv

From the April, 2014, disgorgement – the point when the Aubry’s removed the yeast from the secondary fermentation and added about 5 g/l dosage.  The Wine Advocate review below is for the September 2013 disgorgement, but the extra time on the lees did nothing but make this beauty better!

“Twin brothers Pierre and Philippe Aubry are best-known for their cuvees rendered from the full range of cepages authorized for Champagne; in other words, for their having tracked down, propagated, and showcased the “forgotten” alternatives to the proverbial trio...The Aubrys ought to already be known for perpetrating some of Champagne’s most startlingly distinctive and profoundly delicious wines, period.

With increased acreage and experience, the unorthodoxy of “unknown” cepages has now trickled down to the level of Aubry’s “basic” NV Brut. This contains just one-quarter each Chardonnay and Pinot; 45% Meunier; and a mixture of Arbanne, Petit Meslier and Fromenteau (a.k.a. Pinot Gris). Nearly half of it is reserve wine, and more than half of that from a solera going back to 1998. If that sounds like a recipe for delivering complexity, you’re right and won’t be disappointed! Bittersweet perfume suggestive of gentian and iris mingles with intimations of fresh lime and sea breeze that in turn manifest themselves on a seductively silken palate in both juicy, vivacious exuberance and mouthwatering saliva-inducement. A scallop-like sweetly saline and mineral amalgam takes hold in a vibrant finish that leaves me caught between the urge to linger and the urge to take the next sip. This exceptional value by appellation standards.”  Wine Advocate 92 points (for 2015 release)

Eric Rodez Ambonnay Cuvee Des Crayeres NV Product #13997 (In Stock)
Eric Rodez Ambonnay Cuvee Des Crayeres NV Eric Rodez Ambonnay Cuvee Des Crayeres NV

Over the past few years, Cuvee Crayeres has graduated from a delicious introduction to Eric's wines to a complex, distinctive, very grand wine of its own. It's a 60/40 blend of Grand Cru Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with about 40% aged in barrel and 60% allowed to go through malolactic fermentation.  About 50% of the blend is from reserve wines going back to the mid-2000s.  With 5+ years on the lees and dosage in the 3-4 g/l range, it’s a classy, elegant, and very pure bottle of bubbly.

This year’s release beautiful to look at with a bright brass color, great transparency and shine, and very, very, tiny and persistent buttles.  The aromas are ultra-pure, featuring fresh bread dough, apricot, peach, pear and spice with hints of fresh hazelnut for complexity.  The flavors are complex, too, with fresh lemon, stone fruit, key lime, and green apple fruit notes with accents of salty (not sweet) caramel, toast and spice.  The texture is very fine and sliky and the finish very, very long, with fresh lemon pulp and salty hazelnut notes lingering on and on.  Enjoy it right now for its citrusy freshness or let it rest for 1-4 years to pick up more ginger, baked pear, and toasty, nutty, complexity.
