Anzivino Gattinara 2010 Product #32919 (In Stock)
Anzivino Gattinara 2010 Anzivino Gattinara 2010

More ripeness and depth than you'd expect from this cooler slice of Piemonte, but still nicely elegant and pure.  Ready now although you can hold for another 10+ years if that's your thing.

"Enticing scents of perfumed berry, violet, dried herb and cake spice take center stage along with a balsamic note. The palate is firmly structured but elegant, offering tart red cherry, crushed raspberry, cinnamon and licorice. It's well balanced and young with taut polished tannins and fresh acidity. Drink 2018–2030."Wine Enthusiast 93 points

Ch Larose Perganson Haut Medoc 2010 Product #31997 (In Stock)
Ch Larose Perganson Haut Medoc 2010 Ch Larose Perganson Haut Medoc 2010

A terrific value in 2010 Bordeaux from 35 year-old vines growing on classic Bordeaux gravel soils just outside Pauillac and St. Julien. Aged in tank (15%) and oak (85%) including about 50% new French oak.  The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon (for structure and power), 45% Merlot (for body and fruit) and 5% Petit Verdot (color, perfume), all from sustainably farmed 35 year-old vines.

"A wine with sweet strawberries and raspberries on the nose. Full body, with ultra-fine tannins and a delicious finish. This is balanced and savory for the vintage. And it's an environmentally sustainable winery. Better after 2016."  James Suckling 92 points

"Sports bold, modern toast, with overt anise and blueberry notes leading the way, backed by racy plum and raspberry fruit. The solid finish shows the vintage's telltale graphite spine, offering lively acidity for balance. Best from 2014 through 2020."Wine Spectator 90 points

Bodegas Remelluri Reserva Rioja 2010 Product #32701 (In Stock)
Bodegas Remelluri Reserva Rioja 2010 Bodegas Remelluri Reserva Rioja 2010

From the great 2010 harvest, this is 100% estate-grown fruit, blending Tempranillo (about 90%) with Garnacha, Graciano and white grapes Viura and Malvasía Riojana.  Aging a full 17 months in (mostly used) French oak casks of different sizes and five years more in bottle created a modern masterpiece, a wine of fine depth and excellent lift that marries easy  to love fruit with complex layers of spice and earth.

"A wine with beautiful finesse and depth. Dark fruits, dark chocolate, hazelnut and floral character. Polished and refined. Full body. Long and beautiful. Tasty finish. "  James Suckling 95 points

"From an almost perfect growing season. The nose has earthy aromas and notes of ripe orange peel giving old-style character to the wine marked by very well-integrated oak and an obvious Rioja character. There are cherries, plums and spices with licorice and ink aromas. The day after, it has more strawberries with very good freshness, so the evolution in bottle should be good. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and good acidity that ends with sweet fruit flavors and something earthy, very pleasant and easy to drink. It grows on you."Wine Advocate 93 points

Fattoria La Lecciaia Brunello Di Montalcino 2010 Fattoria La Lecciaia Brunello Di Montalcino 2010

"This is very strong showing from La Lecciaia, one of Montalcino's under the radar estates. The wines show gorgeous Sangiovese purity. The wines are fairly classic in style across the board.  La Lecciaia's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is beautifully layered in the glass, with gorgeous intrigue, depth and personality all on full display. There is a sense of translucent finesse in the 2010 that is impossible to miss. Sweet red cherry, stone fruit, mint and wild flowers all grace the exquisite finish. Bolney Estate Blanc De Blancs Brut 2010 Product #32775 (In Stock)
Bolney Estate Blanc De Blancs Brut 2010 Bolney Estate Blanc De Blancs Brut 2010

Champagne-like chalk soils get all the buzz in England, but this fantastic Chardonnay showcases the merits of free draining, heat retaining, Upper Tunbridge Wells Sand - a blend of loam, silstone and clay over a sandstone base.  The extra time in bottle has added a nutty complexity to the fresh, vibrant, fruit.

"Lively, crisp apple notes on the nose immediately signal freshness. The palate follows with equally brisk green apple and citrus notes, mellowed fittingly with a very fine, soft and creamy mousse. This is lithe, dew-fresh and of great purity. It conjures up visions of clear brooks, green meadows and budding elderflower. The crisp green-apple notes echo long and make for a totally refreshing, brisk finish."Wine Enthusiast 91 points

Vinedos Del Contino Rioja Reserva 2010 Product #32780 (In Stock)
Vinedos Del Contino Rioja Reserva 2010 Vinedos Del Contino Rioja Reserva 2010

A supple, elegant, classic for lamb and roasts.

"A heady, expansive bouquet evokes ripe red and dark berries, cherry compote, vanilla and cigar box, and a sexy floral nuance emerges slowly. Smooth and seamless on the palate, offering sweet, concentrated blackberry, cherry-vanilla and mocha flavors that are firmed and given spine by a core of juicy acidity. Rich yet vibrant in style, displaying impressive finishing clarity, smooth tannins and a lingering spicecake flourish."  Vinous (Raynolds) 93 points

"The 2010 Reserva is a textbook Rioja, and in fact it surprised me with a very classic profile. This is usually a blend of 85% Tempranillo with 10% Graciano and 5% between Mazuelo and Garnacha; it fermented in stainless steel and matured in 50/50 French and American oak barrels for two years. It's a subtle vintage with very fine tannins. 2010 is a very good year for Rioja in general, but in Contino they consider it exceptional. This feels polished and developed with some forest floor and cigar box aromas. Very drinkable."Wine Advocate 93 points

"This plump red shows black cherry and red plum fruit, with tobacco, cedar, tea and spice accents, supported by light tannins and orange peel acidity. Nicely balanced, in the traditional style."Wine Spectator 91 points

Amalie Robert Pinot Noir Wadenswil Clone 2010 Product #30991 (In Stock)
Amalie Robert Pinot Noir Wadenswil Clone 2010 Amalie Robert Pinot Noir Wadenswil Clone 2010

Wadenswil is Oregon's most important "heritage clone" and was the main Pinot selection across the Valley for many years.  After the winegrowers' first mad crush on Dijon clones, more and more winemakers are coming to appreciate Wadenswill's perfume and fruit-filled charm.  Just two barrels made of this beauty which is normally sold only at the winery.  We asked really nicely, but just a case or so is available.

"High-pitched cherry and Asian spice aromas are deepened by notes of sassafras, woodsmoke and cola. Stains the palate with sappy red and dark berry flavors and tangy acidity adding lift and cut. An exotic floral nuance emerges with air and carries through a long, sweet and persistent finish. While this energetic pinot is built to age, it has a lot of immediate appeal."  Vinous (Raynolds) 93 points

Plenty of St. Estephe structure is already softening with plenty of complexity emerging. Full-bodied and deep with a fine, firm, finish.

"Aromas of blueberries and spices with hints of licorice too. Full body with firm tannins and a chewy finish. Extremely well-integrated. Beautiful. One of the best ever from here. Try in 2016."  James Suckling 93 points

"Allies solid density to subtle refinement, with steeped plum, currant, singed iron and charcoal notes. Lightly firm through the finish, showing a lovely tobacco edge, this should age gracefully. Best from 2014 through 2025."Wine Spectator 92 points

Ch Cantenac Brown Margaux 2010 Product #32725 (In Stock)
Ch Cantenac Brown Margaux 2010 Ch Cantenac Brown Margaux 2010

A bold, brawny, wine that should go 20 more years without effort.

"A wine with firm tannins that are polished and reserved yet there's an underlying richness of fruit. Plums, blueberries and citrus character. Some tar too. Juicy and delicious to taste. Try in 2016."  James Suckling 94 points

"The greatest Cantenac Brown I have ever tasted, the 2010 is one for the ages. Dense purple, with an extraordinary nose of sweet forest floor, blackberry jam, pen ink and graphite, this wine soars from the glass, giving it an aromatic dimension and intensity I have never seen from this estate. The tannins are present, as they are in most Cantenac Browns, but the wine’s sweetness, broad, skyscraper-like mouthfeel, dense, purple color and spectacular length (close to a minute) make this a giant classic and a fabulous sleeper of the vintage that still remains under-priced, considering how great its potential may be."Wine Advocate 94+ points

Roy Estate Proprietary Red 2010 Product #28944 (In Stock)
Roy Estate Proprietary Red 2010 Roy Estate Proprietary Red 2010

Shirley Roy never meant to make two wines from her 20 or so acre estate in a crook of Napa’s Soda Canyon.  But, winemaker Philippe Melka felt the vineyard spoke with two voices – one aristocratic and intense, the other softer, more plush and mellow.  Prop Red is the second of those voices, a blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon with 26% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot.  After dropping half her crop in 2010, Shirley was rewarded with this ripe and welcoming red that’s already delicious and sure to improve for years.  A bit of a cross between the black-fruited 2008 and the finer, more detailed, 2009.

“Roy’s 2010 Proprietary Red has a little more delineation and nuance than the 2009. Freshly cut flowers, violets, super ripe dark fruit, mocha, espresso, chocolate, plums, cassis and black currants all jump from the glass in this opulent full-bodied huge wine. Layers of fruit continue to build to the creamy, expressive finish.  Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.”  Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate 92 points

“Bright medium ruby. Aromas of blueberry, coffee, mocha, truffle and chocolate show a slightly porty quality. Fat, smooth and lush in the mouth, offering immediate accessibility. The truffley element carries through on the palate. This nicely rich, layered blend finishes with dusty tannins and good length.”International Wine Cellar 90 points

Eric Rodez Champagne Pinot Noir Les Genettes 2010 Product #32753 (In Stock)
Eric Rodez Champagne Pinot Noir Les Genettes 2010 Eric Rodez Champagne Pinot Noir Les Genettes 2010

From a single plot of 41 year-old vines in the tiny Les Genettes site have plenty to say.  As is the custom in Eric's top wines, this was 100% barrel fermented and aged, has zero malolactic, and received a very light 3 grams/liter dosage at bottling. Pure gold in the glass with tiny bubbles, this shows elegant aromas of griotte cherry, toast, and fresh earth.  On the palate it's tight, focused, and ultra pure, with laser tight focus and a finish that won't quit.  Luxurious, delicious now, and worth following for another half-decade.

"Cool, calm and collected on the nose. Tight and dense - almost more like a sparkling Beaune. And that's a compliment!"  Jancis Robinson 17.5/20 points
